Enhanced User Interface v1.30m

Linux crash with trade routes

Hi, I'm using EUI v. 1.23d with Civ V version 1.0.3.276, all DLC (Complete edition) installed from Steam. I play on a Linux PC (Ubuntu 14.04).

I was previously running EUI 1.23 without problems - but since upgrading to 1.23d after the latest Firaxis patch, I've been unable to set up trade routes. When renewing an old trade route with an old caravan or starting a new one with a new trade route, the game crashes with a segmentation fault upon confirming 'OK' to set up the route. I isolated the problem to EUI - The single-player game (below) works fine in the vanilla UI (albeit, still with all other DLC enabled). This problem was discovered in multiplayer hotseat mode.

I have three files attached - a single-player save file for testing (trade_crash_test.Civ5sav), the associated bundle of log files that were produced upon opening the game with EUI 1.23d (single_player_trade_route_bug_logs.tar.gz), setting up the trade route, and watching the crash. For comparison's sake, I've also added the log files associated with the vanilla behavior, without the crash (example_of_things_working_properly.tar.gz).

I hope this gets resolved! I love EUI, and I'm bummed I have to uninstall it until this is fixed.

Thanks for your efforts,
-bamskamp

Edit: I just saw the post for EUI_v1.24RC1, and tested again. I'm sorry to say that the problem persists for me with the latest version!
Unfortunately, I don't have the save files, but I just want to say this exact problem is also happening to me on Windows 7.
Thanks to bamskamp for taking the time to provide details. Unfortunately, I have not been able to reproduce the crash with the save game on either my main high end windows 7 game rig nor my son's very low end sub-spec Pentium G2020 integrated graphics windows 7 rig. Also bamskamp's lua.log is clean. So I have no clue as to what the problem might be, especially given the fact that changes between EUI v1.23 variants are quite small.
I am using EUI v1.23d with CIV V version 1.3.7 (123988) (1.0.3.276 patch) with all DLC and addons, but no other mods installed.

Quite often when I try to use an Great artist/writer/musician that will create an overlay it will crash when the overlay appears.

Attached is the latest quick save before I use the great writer.

The game does not crash if I remove EUI.
If I install EUI after this again it often does not crash for some great artists/writer/etc.
I assume that it has something to do with caching.

Attached: Save game and the logs from the Log folder (all logging enabled)
Thanks for taking the time to provide details. Unfortunately, I have not been able to reproduce the crash with the save game on either my main high end windows 7 game rig nor my son's very low end sub-spec Pentium G2020 integrated graphics windows 7 rig. Your lua.log did show a problem which I fixed in 1.24, but I doubt this would cause the crash.
Finally , i can confirmed RC version conflict a lot with many mods, cause CTD after you create a first city then press back to map.

I tested just with 8 mods : DLL ver 63, 4 Diplo mob (v24 for CSD), Memmod, Reform and City of mable.

Then i went back bug version (icon spills out of research window) with 8 mods above and everything is fine, no more CTD
Sorry the latest version does not work out for you. EUI's new caching mechanism allows my son to use EUI on his very low end sub-spec Pentium G2020 integrated graphics rig, so it's here to stay. I fail to see how it could be related to crashes, but attached is a replacement file for EUI v1.24 with caching disabled.
did the "city connected" icons disappear by design or is it a bug?
Bug fixed in EUI v1.24

Version 1.24 (November 7th 2014)
  • Fixed some bugs
  • Minor tweak for game version 1.0.3.276
  • Miscellaneous improvements
  • Added game info database caching to improve useability on low end PCs. A few users reported problems alledgedly linked to this function, so a replacement file to disable EUI caching is available at http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=23416

After seeing videos of Marbozir, I've maybe found another feature you could add.

Marbozir and probably others, manually manage citizens, but to do this in a city with a big population, you have to unassign every citizen and if you have a lot of cities then it can get very tedious.

So my suggestion is to add a button which will unassign every citizen :c5citizen: and specialist in a city.

Tell me if someone already suggested this or if there is already such a feature, because I haven't found it.

@Morgonz: thanks for the suggestion
There are already many tools for manual citizen assignment: click on city center to automate all citizens, set citizen automation focus to x x z, click on individual slacker to auto reassign this one, click on slacker box to auto reassign all at once, lock/unlock specialist, lock/unlock worker...

Cheers

I am also experiencing problems when using a great artist, as soon as the overlay appears, the game crashes.

Mac OSX Yosemite, EUI v1.24 (tired with and without cache enabled) with CIV V version 1.3.7 (123988) no other mods and all DLC.

It works fine when I remove EUI, and removing the tooltip does not help.

Attached is the log, hope it helps.

I'm sorry but I can't wade through all 64 pages to find my answer: could someone tell me how to upgrade to the latest version? I already have an earlier version and don't want to screw anything up. Thanks. If you want to PM me that would be even better. I'll name a founded city in your name :)

I keep getting this error for a few units:

MH9WwHp.jpg

Also these errors in the Lua log:

Code:
Assets\DLC\UI_bc1\PlotHelp\PlotHelpManager.lua:197: attempt to index field 'Text' (a nil value)

SelectCivilization: Assets\DLC\UI_bc1\ToolTips\InfoTooltipInclude.lua:821: Cannot find key - Culture

And it is simply chock full of these:

Code:
NotificationPanel: IconHookup error - icon index:	10	icon size:	45	atlas:	(Various)

Harmless? Have I done something I shouldn't have? Or something in need of fixing?

I keep getting this error for a few units:
MH9WwHp.jpg

SelectCivilization: Assets\DLC\UI_bc1\ToolTips\InfoTooltipInclude.lua:821: Cannot find key - Culture
this could result from an EUI bug linked to using the specific file that disables cache (did this at the last minute, did not correctly anticipate side effects of not using the cache). Please try with EUI cache enabled to verify
Also this error in the Lua log: Assets\DLC\UI_bc1\PlotHelp\PlotHelpManager.lua:197: attempt to index field 'Text' (a nil value)
this is a conflict with a mod which messes with the "HexDetails" tooltip (i.e. IGE)
NotificationPanel: IconHookup error - icon index: 10 icon size: 45 atlas: (Various)
this is likely a mod that modifies icon atlasses incorrectly (vanilla game UI would have the same problem but does not issue a message)

Cheers

Can confirm. Also seemed to fix the notification error.

this is a conflict with a mod which messes with the "HexDetails" tooltip (i.e. IGE)

Most likely. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. Good to know where these errors are coming from.

I second this. There are already many ways to manage citizens but all are inferior to manual management. One button to clear all citizens/specialists so you could start assigning from a clean slate would be ridiculously handy.

So I have tried out this mod the last week or so on linux.

I am getting a segfault error at certain times.

Command line output:
"Civ5XP[2246]: segfault at 120 ip 00000000e21506b0 sp 00000000f1f38d0c error 4 in libCvGameCoreDLL_Expansion2.so[e1d71000+567000]"

It seems semi-random, tied to deploying workboats, using great prophets or sending trade routes (caravans), but not all the time.

BUG - SEGMENTATION FAULT setting up TRADE ROUTES - [Linux]

I have been having the same problem with the game crashing/freezing when setting new/refreshing trade routes. I have narrowed down the issue to the units panels so if you are having the same issue as me, you can try removing the unit panel from the mod. That resolved the issue for me.

Love this mod and it is such a pity if others are not using it because they have crash issues so I made this account to post how I fixed it.

I also have this problem, with the game occasionally crashing when setting up trade routes.

How can I disable the Unit panel on the left side (highlighted in red)? When I simply delete the UnitPanel folder, the new interface (higlighted in green) will also be disabled. I only want to use the green interface without the red unit overview. How can I do that?

Please try replacement file in post#1297 to check whether this fixes your crash cases

Cheers

Has the Tool tips on leader heads (number of cities, plicies, techs, ...) been taken away in version 1.24?

Of course it might just be a mod conflict as I run multiple other mods.

Also tried 1.23d and couldn't get it working there either. Lua.log provides no EUI related errors.

I also have random bugs with 1.23. When I rolled back to 1.21 crashes have disappered. Can you try 1.21 or, even better 1.22, and write about results?
