Linux crash with trade routes
Hi, I'm using EUI v. 1.23d with Civ V version 1.0.3.276, all DLC (Complete edition) installed from Steam. I play on a Linux PC (Ubuntu 14.04).
I was previously running EUI 1.23 without problems - but since upgrading to 1.23d after the latest Firaxis patch, I've been unable to set up trade routes. When renewing an old trade route with an old caravan or starting a new one with a new trade route, the game crashes with a segmentation fault upon confirming 'OK' to set up the route. I isolated the problem to EUI - The single-player game (below) works fine in the vanilla UI (albeit, still with all other DLC enabled). This problem was discovered in multiplayer hotseat mode.
I have three files attached - a single-player save file for testing (trade_crash_test.Civ5sav), the associated bundle of log files that were produced upon opening the game with EUI 1.23d (single_player_trade_route_bug_logs.tar.gz), setting up the trade route, and watching the crash. For comparison's sake, I've also added the log files associated with the vanilla behavior, without the crash (example_of_things_working_properly.tar.gz).
I hope this gets resolved! I love EUI, and I'm bummed I have to uninstall it until this is fixed.
Thanks for your efforts,
-bamskamp
Edit: I just saw the post for EUI_v1.24RC1, and tested again. I'm sorry to say that the problem persists for me with the latest version!
Thanks to bamskamp for taking the time to provide details. Unfortunately, I have not been able to reproduce the crash with the save game on either my main high end windows 7 game rig nor my son's very low end sub-spec Pentium G2020 integrated graphics windows 7 rig. Also bamskamp's lua.log is clean. So I have no clue as to what the problem might be, especially given the fact that changes between EUI v1.23 variants are quite small.Unfortunately, I don't have the save files, but I just want to say this exact problem is also happening to me on Windows 7.
Thanks for taking the time to provide details. Unfortunately, I have not been able to reproduce the crash with the save game on either my main high end windows 7 game rig nor my son's very low end sub-spec Pentium G2020 integrated graphics windows 7 rig. Your lua.log did show a problem which I fixed in 1.24, but I doubt this would cause the crash.I am using EUI v1.23d with CIV V version 1.3.7 (123988) (1.0.3.276 patch) with all DLC and addons, but no other mods installed.
Quite often when I try to use an Great artist/writer/musician that will create an overlay it will crash when the overlay appears.
Attached is the latest quick save before I use the great writer.
The game does not crash if I remove EUI.
If I install EUI after this again it often does not crash for some great artists/writer/etc.
I assume that it has something to do with caching.
Attached: Save game and the logs from the Log folder (all logging enabled)
Sorry the latest version does not work out for you. EUI's new caching mechanism allows my son to use EUI on his very low end sub-spec Pentium G2020 integrated graphics rig, so it's here to stay. I fail to see how it could be related to crashes, but attached is a replacement file for EUI v1.24 with caching disabled. Finally , i can confirmed RC version conflict a lot with many mods, cause CTD after you create a first city then press back to map.
I tested just with 8 mods : DLL ver 63, 4 Diplo mob (v24 for CSD), Memmod, Reform and City of mable.
Then i went back bug version (icon spills out of research window) with 8 mods above and everything is fine, no more CTD
Bug fixed in EUI v1.24did the "city connected" icons disappear by design or is it a bug?
Version 1.24 (November 7th 2014)
- Fixed some bugs
- Minor tweak for game version 1.0.3.276
- Miscellaneous improvements
- Added game info database caching to improve useability on low end PCs. A few users reported problems alledgedly linked to this function, so a replacement file to disable EUI caching is available at http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=23416
