Essex class Carrier (US WWII Aircraft Carrier)

What? :hmm: I will try to get that fixed, I am busy to Wed. though. A friend is up for my 17 birthday (Which is today) .

And we do not see him much. But I will get on it. I was SURE I fixed it though..

Well happy B-Day Matt...

Thanks. :) I might get a chance to look at it in a few minutes actually and see what is up..

Does this fix it? If so I will upload it.

This one looks ok to me, apart from missing a lot of the .nif definition (as far as I can tell) which causes it to not have a texture.

It does not have a texture? That is weird, all I did was flip around the model in Nifskope.

Are you opening it in Nifskope? Maybe when I did that NifSkope messed it up on me.

As far as I can tell, it seems to be okay (other then the fact the hull of the ship is still opposite of where it needs to be in-relation to the upper-deck and tower).

The flight-deck and tower now face the correct direction, though as I said, the hull now goes the wrong way, but the deck is more important then the hull... is there a way to fix this model 100% or is that too much work?

I only tried it in Nifskope, here are the results (old first, new second).

Note that the new version is missing a lot of Ni-information and never references to 1.dds.

Hmmm... I dunno... I only looked at the new version in the Civilopedia, and it looked fine to me... I didn't double-check it on map, but I figured if it showed properly in the Civilopedia it would show properly in-game...

Okay... just double-checked... shows fine in Civilopedia and in-game. Now if only the hull could face the same direction as the flight deck... but I can live with it as-is if it's too much work to reverse the hull and keep the deck in the same direction.

I opened the latest download in my nifviewer and it shows just fine, texture and all.

Just to make this clear (I assume it was all along...), I was speaking of the download in post #67, not the front page.

I downloaded it again, same result.

Just to make this clear (I assume it was all along...), my post in #72, refers to the download available in post #67.

Seems fine to me in-game.

Thank you both for looking at the textures.

Are you sure the hull needs switching around? There is a point on both ends, the stern one just sticks out a little farther..
But if I messed it up when I flipped the deck around..

There is a stern and a bow to every ship hull...

There is a front and back to the flight deck...

For whatever reason, if the flight deck and control tower face the correct direction (tower on the starboard/right side), the hull of this ship is backwards and the stern is going forward while the bow is facing backwards.

If you flip the ship around so that the hull's bow faces forward, the flight deck and tower then face the wrong direction.

If NOTHING CHANGES, I'd rather have the flight deck and tower face the correct direction then the hull, because that is what is most visible in-game... but if someone wanted to "fix" the model to be all that it can be, the hull and flight deck need to be alligned so that the bow faces forward and the tower remains on the starboard side... simply put, from this last fix in post #67, keep the deck and tower facing the same direction and rotate the HULL ONLY 180 degrees around.

I'm not into changing models, so I don't know if that's a lot of work or not. If it is, don't worry about it, leave it as it is in post #67... if it's not serious work, then it would be nice to fix this model as I explained above so both the hull and deck face the correct direction.

Superb quality - 5 stars

Thanks asioasio.. This was before max. ;)

Wolfy@ The thing is, I switched the hull only around one version because someone mentioned it, but I did not really know there was much of a difference between the front and back of the hull..

It's NOT a HUGE deal to me... as long as the deck faces the right direction I'm pretty happy... but my memory of events is this...

You release the Essex...

Somebody else (not me) said "the hull is going backwards"... I looked at the model more closely and agreed...

You "flipped" the model... the hull was pointing the right direction, but the flight deck and tower were now backwards.

Either myself or someone else mentioned the tower was now messed up, and you "flipped it again"... however, for some reason, the version posted wasn't flipped, so I then (recently) said the fix for the fix wasn't fixed and you (once again) flipped the model one more time (and this time the flip worked).

The Essex is now essentially exactly the same as it was when you first released it... deck and tower facing correct direction, but hull backwards.

I don't at any time remember the hull and deck both being in proper alignment to one another... either the hull was correct and deck backwards, or the deck was correct and hull was backwards.

In either case, it's not a biggie to me... 99% of gameplay is done with a top-down view and you never really see the hull... the deck and tower is by far the most visible.

However, to my knowledge, the deck and hull have never both been facing the same correct direction on this model... not a biggie, but that's my observation and I'm sticking to it!
;)
