European thread

yes there is our fisherman pay crippling taxes which put them out of business so that ur massive traulers can fish around our country and u are lazy u dont even have customs officals on your border with portugal ( as seen on jeremy clakson damn that was funny)

Sorry, but I don't understand you. What/Who is Jermy Clakson?

both shut up, please. No reason to kill a good discussion with this crap! And the fact that there is no custom control is because of the European Union, you won't find custom control anywhere, only on special occations (like anti-drug action)

You saw the Clarkson tour of Europe too? Pure quality was it not?
I founf it particualrly hilarious when he demanded that he did not have to pay for the toll booth because as a British Tax payer he had already payed for the motorway!

yep and when he walked into the museum and tried to walk past what why do i have to pay again ive already paid and when he went to i think italy and watched the italian tanks go backwards hehe

just remembered and when the german business man got naked i the middle of the park and all the local people just walked past not even laughing that was quite disgusting actually

I have to say, it was very funny when he was at the toll booth.

Jolly good point if you ask me ;)

About the socialists, we need to clean up and reform down there. And it can be done if the people supports it. More and more govs are conservative, the Union will slowly transform into a less socialist one. I'm all for reforming the union, not abandoning.

But on the other hand I am a federalist. I want a united Europe. And you don't.
And that's a fair point. I believe there are great and beautiful propects in a united, peaceful, and prospering Europe. I believe Europe has a great heritage, an amazing history, and a culture and civilisation which has endured and outlived all other. The entire Western civilisation is based on the European. That's why Europe is so great.
But today we are weak, our history is no longer the history of the world. United we could retake our rightful historic place as a leading super power.
No more weakness, a future united in diversity.
That would be my punchline.

And that's actually what I'm proud of too - Europe. Of course I have national pride for my country, Denmark, but I need to see beyond that.

insurgent i agree:goodjob:

jeremy clarkson a britsh comedian
He is NOT a British comedian. He is a guy who lots cars and gets paid to test them for a BBC show. Who qualifies him perfectly to speak against the evils of the EU.
Jolly good point if you ask me
Luckily no one did. I didn't see it but I bet he didn't mention the fact that other European countries having motorways is benefitcal to Britain.

MrPresident he is a comedian as well as someone who gets to test loads of cars, he has had two comic shows so far, he makes me laugh so therefore IMO he is a comedian

Marginally beneficial, yes. As beneficial as spending our money on ourselves? No, I don't think so.

You know what, let England step out, pretty soon you'll be crawling back anyway.

Sure. Where would we be without the joys of the CAP?

Yeah, just like Denmark - when they see the consequences of not being in the union, they'll change their mind and beg to get back.
We voted "no" to the Euro, but already now a growing majority is in favour of it again...

We're already seeing the consequences of not being in the Euro, hence the majority against joining.

What can I say? :D

I think on the Euro there is a different situation. Denmark is a small country, it's expensive for us to maintain the stability of our own currency. We are extremely dependent on the Euro economies.
In the case of Britain, the pound is supported by a much larger apparatus of state and finance. It's easier to maintain the security of the pound than that of our "krone".

Another point needs to be made, though it speaks against my arguments, even if you should leave the EU, you would probably still benefit from the free trade area, as much as you can't afford losing your trade with us, we can't afford losing our trade with you. So you probably wouldn't even in that case suffer from "outer market" taxes.
