The Vigipirate plan (organisation of police forces toward terrorist threats in France) has gone to red level, too.

I guess we'll see a lot of caution these days.

My brother is ok .. but i tihnk he said he missed the King Cross bomb by a minute or two. I feel sick.

The conservatives and labour announced that they would work together now and
put the normal bickering aside in the face of the city emergency...Sometimes the
parliament politicians act in a way that I have to give them a bit of applause.

.

This is from a German website who translated it from arabian. I translated it to English:

"Community of muslims, be happy. Today the heroic mudjaheddin have
executed an attack against london. All of the UK is shocked, in the north,
in the south, in the west and in the east. We have warned the british
government and its people over and over again. We have kept our promise
and executed a blessed military operation.

We again warn the governments of denmark, italy and all the other crusader-
governments. We demand the immediate retreat of all armed forces from
Afghanistan and Iraq."

@Ram - In Australia the PM issued a speech indicating solidarity and sympathy to UK ... it is nighttime 11pm ... it has interupted the cricket match which was being telecast UK vs Aust in London ... that is all except friends phoning and expressing disbelief and anger
Yes my Aussie cousins were on the chat very quick. I simply copied and pasted my news update I did for this thread and they all went phew!

Thanks for reminding me about the cricket man! Totally forgot!

The parts in that article say basically:

"Community of Muslims, rejoice. The heroic mujahedeen today have carried out an attack in London. All of Britain is now shocked, in the North, the South, the East and the West. We have warned the British government and people again and again. We kept our promise and carried out a blessed military operation. We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all other crusader governments."

Don't make me laugh.

1) "Community of Muslims"

First of all inferring themselves to be representing the world population of muslims.

Secondly "London has the highest proportion of Muslims (8.5 per cent)..." - www.statistics.gov.uk

So roughly 1 in 10 of the dead are likely to be Muslim.

2) "heroic "
...right...

3) "All of Britain is now shocked"
Oh yeah, look at me quaking. There's no panic here or in the rest of the UK.

You know I'd like a stronger statement from the government. This tiny group of people with tiny support don't mean **** to me or anyone else with half a brain. When we get them they won't be laughing. When God sees them, they won't be laughing.

For anyone in central London: Charles Clarke has announced the entire Tube network will be closed all day today and possibly into tomorrow. However, Fenchurch Street Train Station is open, and police are advising that anyone who can leave from there starts doing so asap.

Yup - We knew the claims and edicts would come soon...

In the face of any attacks, the hidden rats always issue egotised statements.

The people in London will show contempt for extremism (of whatever flavour) with typical stubborn courage:

We pull up our chin and get on with it, we Brits do not cower in fear.

....

I dont know about the Queen, but God Save the UK!

I think it very appropriate that GWB and Chirac stood beside Blair. If you English need anything from us, just ask, okay?

When I say the title I thought this was a parody of the Marla thread, now I wish it was.

Another device has been discovered at Edgeware road... :( The police are going to conduct a controlled explosion .. From ITV News

That's terrible. You know it will happen one day, but when it actually happens, you're shocked.

My deepest sympathies with the British people.

I'd argue that's not true. Under pressure you act without thinking, on pure instinct and emotion. There's no room for rationality to take over until the situation has passed. It's what the person does then that is the true test of character, IMO. It's why (American) criminal law makes such a distinction between crimes commented 'with malice aforethought' and those committed in the heat of the moment.

But I'll agree to disagree if you like; it's off the topic of the thread.

Renata

i never said anyone is as bad as their words, and yes i have heard of emotions, and i understand you were emotional at the time, i just assumed it didnt need to be stated again, it pretty much goes without saying

what i said was: only under pressure do you really get to know yourself and those around you

as in judging from their words but mostly from their actions

its in those situation that the mask slides down, and you see what the reptilian brain is doing under the primate brain

remember, when everything is peachy, theres no reason for strong emotions like hatred, its in dire sitautions that you need your self control the most

ofcourse some people hate when everything is good too, but those are people are few, and in need of professional help
