Fall Flat Release

Don't ask me why that didn't get fixed in the release, but you guys are right. Going to fix that and do some other stuff to Fall Flat tonight, and drop RC6 on you guys probabaly something at stupid o'clock in the morning.

Sabathiel

"So much to watch. So many to care for. So many things that can go awry. I wish, oh, how I wish, I could take a more direct part in the affairs of my people. These things would not happen. I would be there to stop them. But I am not strong enough. Not yet. I need to conserve what little strength I still possess. Someday, after you are gone, perhaps, but some day soon, I will need it. We will all need it."

His pedia hints that he may someday be able to fight personally in erebus. I'd call it good enough justification, personally.

Bannor need Sabathiel as a second hero. Buildable with some really late tech like Righteousness or Divine essence. And only if their alignment remains good.

Str 9 base, with 2 Law affinity.
Unitcombat Disciple
Carries a unique sword named Justice, which grants
  • +3 Holy Combat
  • +40% vs Demons
  • +40% vs Undead
  • Causes fear, making enemies sometimes afraid to attack.
  • Armageddon Counter decreases by 1 when a demon is defeated in combat

He would start with Angel, Hero, Flying, People's Champion, Divine, Medic I-III, Command I-II, Channeling 1-3, Law I, Life I, and Order unit religion. Which should allow him to use all Law and Life sphere spells and all Order priest spells, cure disease and Heal. As well as the two free command promos giving him a leg up on that line of promotion.

Go on, you know you want to do it. The Seraph model, although not perfect, would do nicely as a placeholder.

If the Bannor follow Order, build Code of Junil, and get a few Law nodes, he would almost be capable of standing face to face with Meshabber unpromoted. Personally, when I play Bannor, I end up with about 5 law mana, so I based the strength around that.

Can't do it, cap'n. Really against any sort of change like that which railroads a civ into a certain religion/alignment to unlock power units - defeats some of the uniqueness of the Epic game. The Sheaim are bad enough as a single civ.

well fine, remove the good alignment req then.

But who doesn't want an angel for a hero, seriously.

The whole following order thing was only because of the free law mana from Code of Junil. that can be gotten elsewhere.

Interesting how everybody but Brigit seems to get +2 affinity...and she ends up with crappy fire strength too...not that she needs any more strength but...

Bridgit also can't die. That's pretty important to consider.

I always figured that Daracaat should be barbarian. I'm playing a game with him and ive had no problems from the tech deficiency, and it seems to me to suit the theme. After all, barbarians would be wary of spider worshipers, since said worshipers might feel inclined to 'eat' the barbarians. Perhaps instead of barbarian you could make them 'Cannabalistic'.

I'd like to report back on a game played last week (emperor level)

I picked Camilon Jivorn the new leader and i must say i really enjoyed him.
Now some observations:

Ai need lot of work, i by no means an excellent player managed to dominate the entire game quite easily without any real trouble, though i must say this is mainly caused by three factors:

1) AIs didnt seem to improve their land nearly enough, elven civ tended to do better than others.

2) Svartalfar (elf) + fellowship of the leaves = insane build power

3) I didnt see *any* mage or spell whatsoever by any other civ

Other than that the game was real fun till i clearly dominated (make it 150 turns on quick) and i hope to see the new version compatible for latest patch soon. Great work!!!

On my first game I fell flat. Destroyed by a 9 strength wraith barbarian on turn 35 (epic speed). Would it be possible to restrict the AI's ability to explore lairs until a certain point? As it is rather disappointing to set up a complicated game only to be destroyed by something you had no control over.

Also maybe I just didn't play far enough into it but the AI's war or peace beginning diplomacy text seemed a bit generic all around. I haven't ever played a standard FF game before though so not sure if that is with this modmod or FF in general. Though I have to admit your new leader in contrast was quite articulate in his godliness. Bring more of that into the leaders and I'd be happy ^^

I've been out due to various reasons (work, issues with girlfriends, etc) and it hasn't left me with time enough to read the forums these past few days - much less get the work done on Fall Flat I intended to.

So, one thing at a time.

Daracaat will be shifted to lose barbarian because, among the flavor differences with them being at peace with the Orks, the barbarians have a nasty tendancy to attack and kill HN spiders within your borders. With the new abilities that the Spiders can get, they don't NEED barbarian to really compete on a high tier.

With the upgrading of the lands thing - believe me, I noticed. I'm trying to find a solution, but I believe it's not just a Fall Flat issue, it may be a Fall Further issue on the whole. Which means it should be solved there.

The AI doesn't do a lot with its mages, which is a shame.

That wraith spawn used to be a Lich who would then summon wraiths. I toned it down to just the wraiths so you could wear him down, but it still may not be enough. I don't think it'll ever be totally safe to open a lair early game - I may tell the AI not to do it in the opening turns. What I'd really like to do is not allow the "explore spell" to open lairs in other player's cultural borders. Then at least it's not your fault.

The only leader who has any flavor text done by me is Xiven T'nava. I'd like to handle Camilion's text at some point too (he's currently using Decius').

And I'm surprised I haven't gotten any comments on Xiven's new diplomacy music. :D

Just started a game with the Jotnar, and lo-and-behold the game spawned me without my starting settler! What is up with that? Gonna use worldbuilder to fix it.

0_o That is a new one. I can't imagine what would cause that.

**relatively major EDIT**
Allright, so with the rolling in of some of Fall Flat's features, the addition of an entirely new civ, and all sorts of other neat toys encased in Fall further, I've decided to recode Fall Flat from a new base instead of trying to merge all the old code in.

This will take a little more time than a standard quick update, but will give me peace and security mentally when I say "not my fault, something amiss in Fall Further" and will make future merges easier (as right now my code is all over the place in the XML and winmerge is having problems hunting down the bits and peices that are mine and not mine and changed and not changed) so in the end, this is a move for Fall Flat's future.

The bad news is that this will put off the integration of the Mechanos into Fall Flat - the good news is that they will integrate more smoothly when I do add them.
The Grigori will spawn adventurers seperate from GP in the next Fall Flat patch - I'm putting my code-foot down and saying it'll happen, mainly because I've got about 90% of the code for it done :D

So now, for some community involvement (because I love this stuff).

Anybody who sees any text, be it strategy or flavor text, that is missing in Fall Flat (or Fall Further, because then it's PROBABALY missing in Fall Flat) is highly encouraged to post any texty-snippets they may come up with. I'm quite frankly, tired of looking at so many pieces of "No Pedia Entry yet!" all over when I'm trying to make everything come together. :) It's really jarring to see. So put your heads together - assuming it's good text, you'll see it in Fall Flat sooner or later (and how hard is it to be better than "No Pedia Entry yet!"?)

**edit of an edit (is that like a mod of a mod? :D)**
This also goes for diplomacy text, strategy text, Dawn of Man text... anything like that. Post it - worst case I have to change it a bit to use it.

I believe I once saw Charadon say "Well now that's settled, let's have a jolly cup of tea then shall we?"

I think it's a holdover line from BtS

...that's hillarious. I'm going to go see if that happens, but I may keep it. Because Charadon and tea... hahahahahahahahha

A thought.

if you want help fromthe community, it might be a nice idea to have a thorough look through the pedia, and post a list of empty entries that people could write.

It's one thing to say "I need this done, anyone want to help?" But what you're essentially asking here is "go find something to do, then do it"

People work better when directed to specific tasks. And most people work poorly without direction or objective.

....... You know, I may have to force that in Doviello+. Mostly because if I saw it, I wouldn't be able to stop laughing.

If you want text, make sure to use the newest Malakim+... Shouldn't have missing text for anything now. :goodjob:

I like some of the changes you have made. But removing all the humor really means I will never play this mod-mod-mod :(

I didn't pull all of the humor, just the monty-python related graphics and flavor text. I don't find them funny anymore.

[Minor Rant: Monty Python is the master of silly surprise humor and randomness. Repeating the same jokes day after day from Monty Python loses the humor value, and for someone who hears it every day, breaks the dark fantasy world.]

If this is a problem for more than just cvlowe, I could probabaly arse myself to have a second version.

Not the way I'd like to go, but this is a mod for a little more than "a few graphics that irritate me" now.
