right now i would have to say the ottomans
Ottomans. Sipahi armies are unstoppable, and if you do the military-technology gambit and get them while everyone else is getting physics and banking, you have free reign through an entire era, and infantry slow them down but they're still useful till Mobile Infantry show up.
Unless you're not a warmonger, I guess.
my first civ that i played was Babylon but now i like Greece
I'm evenly split between the Celts and the Maya.
I like Carthage, Persia and the ottomans. Add a tally for whoever's losing/
I like Germany, Byzantines, and Greece. See, I have this thing for Scientific civs...
The best is PERSIA their special unit lasts the longest, and covers the ancient and medieval times. Awesome for getting land in the beginning, and use with the crusaders in medieval times.
Japan is my favorite. Religious and Militarisitc. Samurai ain't too shabby
ottamans, scientific/industrious and the fact it has a quality attack unit
I like dominating the world with the zulu nation if only for the sake of irony. Same for the iros.
...or any nation, in fact, nyo...
Vikings! But almost all of them are nice...
Russians - the Expansionist/Scientific outlook allows you to tech up more rapidly than most.
Please don't laugh, but I just played the game of my life with - the Hittites!
I guess that's pretty ironic in more than one way...
The Dutch. I like the seafaring trait a lot and the agricultural one as well, along with their nice UU.
Honorable mention to the Byzantines, though.
I'm quite fond of the Ottomans
