Does anyone remember the 80s hand-held one-game machines?

I used to own a couple of them, including the Octopus one:

The most famous one was the Mario vs Donkey Kong, but i don't think i ever had that in its hand-held version.

Edit: I also had this one, the infamous "Caveman"...

Oh yeah. my fav was this old football one. You were the fat dash. Coleco maybe? *scampers off to image search...* Found it!

Wonderful nostalgia flashback, but I have to be honest that I don't really think those qualify as computers.

EDIT: :high5: timtofly!

I had a strange one game hand held. It was a racing game, but what made it strange is that instead of having a screen, it was projected onto a mirror within the device.

:)

They weren't computers, no, they did not even actually have graphics in the sense that a computer has, given that the moving images were all drawn into the screen and were lit/colored depending on the move going on at any time (which is why you can see that dinosaur in Caveman having the other variables of his body-stance visible, but not lit)...

Still they had great value at the time as game-machines. I recall just relaxing on my bed, in the middle of elementary school, and playing Octopus with my head comfortably on the pillows :)

I still love the keyboards on the Apple IIe.

I've got a place in my heart for my old Amstrad 464. Similar to the one listed in the poll, but with a cassette drive instead of the disc drive. Flipping the tape to load the second half of the game is something kids these days will never appreciate!

I voted C64. Loved playing Mule on that thing.

I also owned an Amiga and it was great too.

Poll really needs an Apple II or Apple IIc option on it. First computer I ever bought was an apple IIc and I played Wizardry on it. Awesome.

I am not sure if i had seen an Apple II here, at the time at least. I did see the old IBM as i mentioned, but that was not at all popular here for games. It was a popular computer for schools that had computer classes though :)

In general most of the kids had an Amiga500/1024, or no computer. I recall one having an Acorn (i think it was an Acorn anyway...). I had also seen a Spectrum and a C64, although the latter might have been just a CPC464 with a cassette player... At any rate those were the older generation of computers, whereas Amiga was the more advanced one around. In fact the early PCs were termed as "Amiga-killers", so you can gather which computer they were supposed to antagonise anyway...

I had this one:
