great thanks seZ :D

here are a few different versions of an attempt at the Blair of Lacuna.

i tried to go for the other dimensional look with the floating rocks, as well as the floating rings of runes (i wanted the runes to overlap onto neighbouring tiles) however MC suggetsed going along the lines of the Sheim palace with the tentacles, but i think it looks too crouded with that and the runes. i included one with just the tower and runes as well to compare with. ill post a download later :)

ultimately id love to get the rings of runes to slowly rotate and move up and down alternately, to give it more of a mystical feeling, but i dont do animations.

Heres my attempt at the Tower of Eyes :)

what does everyone think?

I like number 2) of Lacuna, but some animation could really do wonders here! (I think animating this one should be really easy, but I don´t have any idea of animating...) and I like the tower, while some contrast and structure on the tower itself might be good, right now it looks like plastic somehow.

great tower of eyes, although imho it would be even better if the eyes on top where actually eye-shaped instead of carved into a rectangular-ish stone ;)

I like the number 4 to be honest. the floating rocks rock and I would be probably the only one who thinks that the "tentacles" nicely ensphere the building.

where there are the spikey bits that stick out, perhaps you could have a crescent coming back the other way (from the tip), and have a pupil set between the two.

So you'd be left with an eye motif that is made of one half crescent as the base, with a full crescent flicking back over hooking over the pupil.

Very poor representation of what I'm trying to describe here and in the attached paint pic

I guess I would pick the first one as well. I like the idea of the floating rocks, and think it would be great if they are animated. Otherwise, they wouldn't really look floaty I think.

I think I like Blair of Lacuna #2 best.

In all of them, the base of the Blair is awfully empty while the top is rather busy. I'm thinking it could be nice to have some a ring of rune stones at the bottom. You could probably just take them directly from a mana node.

thanks guys :D

thanks :) ill add in some shadows for them as you suggest... i always forget those
i think what makes the tower look plastic is that the walls is a flas colour, with no brick texture, ill add that in too i think :)

New Tower of Eyes:

I added in shadows and changed the flat grey to textured brick.

what you think seZ (and everyone else :p)

EDIT: Links added :)

here are the downloads for the Tower and second Lacuna (the one with the floaty stones.)

You could try finding the file for the selection circle placed under units. As I recall it is animated to spin slightly. Modify that to incorporate your runes and you might have your animation worked out. Though ideally you would have some runes spinning at a different rate (and direction) than others.

I like number 2 of the Lacuna. And your Tower of Eyes looks great. Perhaps try Pillar of Chains next... >_>

Never mind, I just noticed the paths in CIV4ArtDefines_Improvement.xml were wrong. I fixed that, and it is working except that the scale I used was way off. (The Palus isn't supposed to take up almost 100 tiles, right?)

edit: Are you sure you posted Blair #2? It looks like #1 in the game. I see no floating stones.

Wow nice, the HUD looks pretty sweet. (I havn't been here for a while and I havnt even tried 0.34 yet)
