This is the Judgement of the Righteous, scum

I present, Seraph v2.0

(Image accidentally deleted. It's obsolete anyway. look down a few posts for the new one)

Now with beating wings, stabby combat animations, and 100% more Blazing Sword of Justice

I was originally inspired by the ending of this wonderful story, and I resolved to give the seraph a flaming sword as soon as I knew enough. Then the Angel of Death came along, big thanks to ploeperpengel, and I just felt the time was right. I didn't know enough, but I managed to learn it as I went, and got it to work nicely.

Yes, it uses the full Angel of Death animation set. Flappy wings and all. For the sword, I borrowed a little something something from a passing pyre zombie. I think he was too mindless to care.

I credited seZereth for the Seraph model, not certain if that's correct or not. If I'm mistaken, do point it out and I'll change it.

But it is only the model, textures, and animations. so unless you know your way around an artdefine, you won't be able to do much with it. luckily, it's not that hard:

Minor caveat. It's civpedia entry is broken. I know not why. If anyone can figure it out, do tell me.

Spoiler :

1. Extract the zip somewhere under the Art directory in your FFH folder.
2. Find the file Civ4ArtDefinesUnit.xml (hard drive search is your friend) within the FFH folder.
3. Find the seraph entry. For quick results, use the case-sensitive search string "Seraph". if it's not capitalised, you'll get hundreds of balseraph units instead.
4. Look for the lines starting with <NIF> and <KFM>. You want to change the filepaths between the tags, to point at Seraph_V2.nif, and deathangel.kfm, wherever you installed them.

Holy moly! Sweet justice take my enemies away!

great stuff!
(maybe you can re-rig the Herald to the Angel animation as well :) ???)

->Roland created the Seraph model, not me.

Cheers!!!

Seraphim do indeed have 3 pairs of wings, although only one pair is actually used for flight.

Isaiah 6:2 said:
Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.
I believe I've read the word for feet used here can also mean the genital area. This may indicate that their wings are the only clothes they wear.

Is this intro screen new to .41?

the music's p. sweet

Yeap, thats one of the new easter eggs in 0.41.

@WarKirby- great job on the Searaph. C.Roland made the original guy. Im going to play with your version a bit and see how it works out.

I'm informed that the pedia issue is due to animations, To fix it, you just need to not have the animations in the same folder as the seraph. and instead point it to the angel of death folder. Apparently, it requires the original angelofdeath.nif in the same folder as the animations, to display properly in the pedia.

I could take a go at 3 pairs of wings. I wonder if it will work.... they would all move in sync if so, though. Since the animation only supports one pair.

The nif needs to be the same name as the kfm (strange but true). So the easier way is just to rename your Seraph_v2.nif to deathangel.kfm.

Which is why all the unit nif files in FfH have the same name as their animation, not of their unit.

This isn't quite true. I have the civilopedia working using the deathangel.kfm, and with the nif now named seraph_v2.1.nif

The problem is that the deathangel.kfm needs a deathangel.nif in the same folder as the animation, to make it work. Now, renaming my nif to deathangel WOULD solve the problem, but it's not the only way. But a better solution is to have the animations in ploeperpengel's angel of death folder, and just point the seraph artdefine at that. Then it works, because deathangel.nif is also already in that folder, and I can have my nif with any name I like.

FFH's way of doing things like this always confused me. But now you can see it's unnecessary. Unless a unit is using custom animations made specifically for it, the nif can be named anything you want as long as you're pointing to a kfm elsewhere in the same folder as an appropriately named .nif

Remember that seraph? It's obsolete already!

And yet, despite the increase in overall wings, the theme I hear in my head is actually "One-Winged Angel." I approve of the current Mercurian direction (e.g. a significant increase in badassery). I'd been worried the extra wings wouldn't work aesthetically, but looks nice to me.
