FfH2 Bug Thread

@AMBusam & Ambreville: I am able to successfully load your saves.

I had a problem like the one you two describe, and was able to resolve it by downloading the new version of the 0.41 installer. You can recognize the new version because the file is called "FallFromHeaven2.1.exe".

Okay thanks. Currently, the new download doesn't seem to be available. I get the "download is waiting for authorization" page.
 
Okay there is a new version uploaded that fixes the leaderheads issue. If you are having the leaderhead problem I would download it. If you aren't that problem then it probably isnt worth the download.
 
Confirming Unrestricted Leader option does not enable unrestricted leader in "hot seat" mode. In order to get unrestricted leaders we now have to pick the option "end of winter".....
 
actually - I spoke too soon - just launched as Alexis and got;


This was a custom start up, where I'd specified Alexis. The previous screenies were from a normal start up

Edit 1: on reflection this is a second issue - doesn't mean Alexis' LH isn't working in game, it's just for some bizarre reason I started as a minor leader instead.

Edit 2: indeed, a normal start up gave me Alexis and her correct LH

aha....I used the End of winter option when I set-up the custom game where I unexpectedly got the minor leader instead of Alexis. Is it possible End of Winter has been flagged to trigger both options?

Pretty certain I didn't select unrestricted leaders.

Can't say I played that custom game long enough to check whether the End of Winter option itself actually worked - although I think it did as if definitely took a little longer to load up compared to the Normal game starts, and whilst I was struck by how temperate the normal game appeared, I don't recall feeling the same same on the custom game (End of Winder tends to find itself in all my games)

It appears as though the "End of Winter" option is now turning on both options (End of Winter and Unrestricted Leader). I always play unrestricted leader and never play End of Winter, but with .41 I have to select End of Winter in order to get Unrestricted Leader.

Looks like Firaxis hard coded it so Unrestricted Leaders has to be the 7th game option. Hmpf.
 
Yeah, I learned with FF that you aren't allowed to move a handful of the other options, mostly anything which affects the game before the map fully loads, everything that affects the Custom Game Screen at the least is controlled by the EXE via hard-link
 
The Amurite Archer is not displaying correctly. the main torso is transparent, leaving the arms and head visible. Also the civiliopedia display for the Alduria Chamber is blank.
 
While it looks like you fixed the leader problem (I'm uploading the pic of my earlier error as you asked) I noticed last night that my hamlets, villages and the like weren't showing up! I'm playing the Clan and it's early-ish in the game and so far the only 'odd' thing that I've done is cast my world spell.

Download the latest full download and it will fix both your cottage problem and the leaderheads.
 
I am of the opinion that Portals, as they are currently implemented (for the Sheiam) cost too many hammers. Its just not balanced for the MP imho. I would say half the cost at least. Its not really potent at all in early game, usually not midgame except for a few Mobius witches ... I find its about as rare to get a good portal unit as getting a great prophet through an event. iirc
 
What exactly was the bug with the cottages? I'm curious.

Cottages change art based on your religion and that art isnt included in saturday nights 0.41 version.

Thanks. I moved the Religion-Era code from BeginPlayerTurn to playerChangeStateReligion, and everything turned invisible. I'm glad to hear to hear I didn't break it :)

I know no more big changes are being made, but today I was playing with numbers, and found that putting the Era stuff in playerChangeStateReligion greatly reduces the number of passes. For instance, assume normal speed, 9 civilizations, and the game lasts 450 turns. Also assume no teams are eliminated, the Mercurians and Infernal never enter the world, and no one ever converts to a religion. The minimum number of checks would be 7*9*450 = 28350 checks. It's even more with players converting.

If the Religion-Era code is moved to playerChangeStateReligion, with the same assumptions as above, it's 0 checks. If players do adopt religions (assume they all do), it's 7*9 = 64 checks (if they never convert again).
 
0.41 works great for me, all the problems above appear to have been fixed by the time I got to the download, so excellent work.

So my question is what else needs to be done to be able to reload old 0.40(z) games? Upon install I did let it automatically rename those files under Fall from Heaven 2 (old) but haven't done anything else. None of the old saves I had can be loaded though, they all crash.

try this nifs (copy [if needed create this folders] both archer nifs in 'assets\art\units\civs\amurites\archer' and the gaurishrine.nif in 'assets\art\structures\buildings\adularia chamber')

edit: should really check the OP (it was already posted as fixed some hours before i saw that there is the problem) before doing things like this :lol: - attachment removed

you can only load them with 0.40z, too much has changed with 0.41
