Can I just ask what the people of Europe think about a song from their country being sung in English? I think it would be much better, in the interests of cultural exchange, if the songs were sang in the native tongue.

Well that can be the case for some of the countries, some of the others really don't want to sing in their native tounge

That's what I also think: it's better if every country presented a song showing a bit their country's traditional music, and of course, at their native language.

I don't know about that, Morris Dancing is a tad embarrasing. Plus, you have the added problem of identifying from where a particular genre orginated. At least with the language idea there can be no argument.

IIRC, it used to be this way.
Personally I'd prefer it. Not that I have anything against english, but I'd just perfer it if people sang in their mothertongue. French and Italian are so beautiful singable languages. I don't understand why switzerland constantly picks an english song.

You know, as time passes by, I like her lyrics more and more because they're not puritan and don't pretend that all-it's-nice-and-well-and-don't-worry-be-happy-and-politically-correct

I'd want to see her go on tv-news basing anyone and anything, from the host journalist to his chanell to planet and entire universe!

P.S.: perhaps I'm in the mood today that Politically Correctness annoys me very much, as well as puritans that think the end of the world is coming because Lordi won the competition and Satan will rule the earth...

By the way, what does "Lordi" means in Finnish? In Czech, it is "Lords", so I wonder if it means the same or it is something completely different (as usual when we talk about Finnish ).
