Firaxis at Pax East 2014 - Speculations?

I think that will be Rhye's stuff for Civ5...

Or another big stuff for Civ5...

Don't kill Civ 5 too soon...

The complete edition is for sale. They aren't going to make any more content for Civ V. Patches maybe, but you don't announce patches at PAX.

No rule says that Complete Edition means ... Complete Edition

I believe somebody mentioned that some other game released new content after they released a complete edition of the game.

Yeah, Civ4 gold was vanilla and warlords, so the precedent is one expansion after gold

Oh i'm jumping on board the hype train. Civ 6 or an Alpha Centauri (style) game would be great.

I'd also like a 'near-future' expansion for Civ V.

No. Nobody was saying that. Everybody was saying that BNW was coming out. That is why Gold existed.

Nope. They announced and released Gold before BNW's announcement, look it up. And SOME people were taking it to mean the end of CiV.

This. I would be absolutely shocked if this isn't a Civ spin-off a la Railroads or Pirates.

A new game doesn't mean killing civ V... civ IV sure isn't dead, and it's over 5 years old. Even if Firaxis starts working on different things, civ V still has a thriving workshop community.

Just bumping this thread to remind everyone that this thing is going down on Saturday.

They'll announce Civ VI is in the works, and release a patch that adds a second leader to many Civ V civs, and that they're done with that game.

When Civ V was announced, how long it took after that to the release of the game?

The announcement was actually in February 2010 and the release in September, so we had a seven month speculation period.

Adam Sessler has unexpectedly retired from the video game world, so it seems that he may not be moderating the panel. We asked Pete Murray about this and he said he'll have more details soon.

Wow - that is unexpected! Zach Minor is/was a colleague of Adam, so it could be him. I hope so - he's a Civfanatics member and I think quite aware of the questions we might like to ask the panel!

Huh, must have been the E3 stuff that got me to join.

I think he'd be good too, but he also left Rev3Games last month. He's still a producer with Revision3, just not with games, apparently.

My hopes:

1) Alpha Centauri 2. Done in the Civ V engine. Free interpretation of the original with lots of innovation.

2) Multiplayer focused spin of with a bit less mirco and faster play for games of about 1-2 hours. Completely redone simulatnious turn system (learn from board-games such as: Diplomacy & A Game of Thones).

3) Civ V Complete for iPad/Android tablets. Similar fast and easy multiplayer as in Civ Rev. Played in hotted up strategic view, limited to maximum standard map size it should work.
