First Look Persia

From Steam:

We’ve got two new civs coming soon for Civilization VI! The first is Persia, led by Cyrus, and you can check it out here. Persia is a civ perfect for the player who wants to build a rich empire, but isn’t afraid to launch a sudden, unexpected military strike. This DLC pack will be unlocked automatically for everyone who purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition of Civilization VI.

In addition, the Spring 2017 update to Civilization VI will come with balance changes, multiplayer changes, and bug fixes for everyone who owns the game!

Stay tuned as we share more details on the upcoming Double Civilization & Scenario Pack and the upcoming update!

After thinking it over a bit, I think I'm pretty disappointed with their abilities. Not that they're weak, actually I think they'll probably be top tier for deity, just that they look boring, their flavour is basically just spam settlers until you meet someone, then spam immortals and rush the poor sucker. Where's the complexity, where's the fun, and most importantly, where's the xwedodah!?
I'm kinda hoping the UI will improve over time much more than the other UIs. Giving it some kind of development. Or something.

The Outback Station is the one that makes the most improvement over the course of the game, hopefully it's a sign that they realize that UImprovements are kinda terrible and need to be better.

There's a fine line there, though. Make a UI too good and it ends up being something you spam everywhere at the expense of just about everything else. I think Firaxis should focus on making UI's that you maybe only want to build a handful of but that have a very unusual/niche utility to them rather than straight-up yields.

I think this will be the best UI. I'm already a pretty big fan of Sphinxes just for that single culture point so early in the game. It saves some vital early game production on getting border growth rolling in new cities (by supplementing building the monument for working a sphinx). Like a lite version of Rome's free monument, it lets them expand really fast. I've basically considered the faith a waste on them though. Meanwhile this new "party pizza" improvement has twice the culture, gold, and further adjacency bonuses making it on par with if not better than Rome's free monument within the context of early expansion.

This incarnation of Persia/Cyrus sounds good to me. I still would have preferred a Safavid ruler (Abbas the great) though.

Bonus to internal trade routes (and even if it is just +1 production +1 food) is quite something. A free 2nd trader early on is nice as well. And I like how it fits historical strengths of Persia.

The unique improvements might be quite good, but I'm unsure as of yet. More appeal doesn't help that much except for seaside resorts and national parks. So that bonus will be very situational. It will, of course, be very helpful in the beginning of the game. And we'll have to see what that adjacency bonus really means. In the video it is adjacent to a commercial hub an a holy site and gets +3 gold and +2 culture (in ancient time with supposedly no improvements already researched).

The Immortal finally getting a ranged attack also fits with history and I'm so glad that happened. Has the potential to be one of the best UUs. But the video shows: melee strength of 30 (10 lower than the swordsman), ranged strength of 25 (same as an archer). Not that good... You can see in the video that it has the +7 melee promotion though. So it definitely is in the swordsman promotion path, probably also upgrades to musketman in that case. And the +7 also counts for ranged attack, as we can see in the video. Nice!

The +2 movement is a cool thing. But is it only for surprise wars or for all wars? So it probably is only for the first third of the game. And the warmongering penalty is probably just halved for the declaration of war and not the conquering. Still makes it a good civ to conquer in classical/medieval times.

lol, a perfect answer to those complaining they could not move their troops fast enough across their civ. Add the logistics cards and your infantry move 5 MP!

Most Civs have a weak part... I think the half warmonger is it here. While Warmongering is not a serious issue to a dom player this will have little value,

I can just imagine surprise war using cavalry units. Let the pillaging begin!

So far, most UIs have stated that they can't be built next to another one. I don't recall them mentioning that part for the Satrap-thing Pairidaeza.

I assume it has that restriction as well, since it enhances tile appeal. Too many of them would supercharge Seaside Resorts or Neighborhoods.

They relaxed it on the Chateaux so why not. If its limited to rivers its damn annoying if you cannot have next to each other... if it snot limited to rivers then they need to have adjacency stopped or I would certainly abuse the appeal

The unique improvement unlocks at Guilds!
No early boost from that thing... Why doesn't it give an amenity as well? Would be fitting.
