Yes, this is the most accurate date Bistrita was able to come up with. Mine, without any complicated calculations was about t160 starting the deal.

Anyway, I'll just say: we may well reach a point before T175 where we're no longer interested in a NAP extension. So if you guys wait too long to change your mind (or your war with the Zulu goes poorly), we may stick with letting the NAP expire and see what happens. 1:19 PM

- Scooter was suspiciously eager to accept the earlier Marble gift date
- RB knows that we are feeling out other teams about going to war against them
- Therefore, they are convinced we will be going to war with them on T175
- Scooter threatened that they may not want a NAP with us past T175 anyways

What I'm most interested in is, who ratted us out? It could be anyone, really: Poly, CP, WPC or the Germans. I don't like it at all. And any attempts to correct ourselves and be more tight lipped just helps RB since we'd be backing of our attempts to form a dog pile...

- Tell one team that we intend to break our NAP with RB and attack the Stone city where they build Globe theatre. If we see them reinforce the city then we know who told them. Tell another that RB says they are planning to make War on WPC if they can get a NAP with us. If WPC then comes to us and asks us not to extend our NAP with RB then we know who told them.
These are just examples but you get the idea.

I agree with your point that RB could be using that tactic to read our reaction to such a statement. That's actually a pretty smart move. Your examples probably are the best ways to throw RB off our trail, but I don't know if we want to lie to our allies like that.

Sommers is right, no one told RB anything. But them seeing us not wanting to extend NAP with them past t175, seeing our power rising over what they consider needing to simply conquer Spaniards, them trying to extend NAPs with CP and Poly and could not get any extension beyond t175, all this sums up and tells them enough so they try to ask us and see our reaction.
About telling different things to different people to test if/who is betraying us, I told Bistrita just yesterday to try this very same thing with CP and French and to see if they speak behind our backs.

RB are not in good relations with CivFR (even more after CivFR gift Elephants to Germans)
RB believe we are trying to play them some mind tricks. (Like making them believe we have war to fight with CivFR and then suddenly have our army back to fight RB). This one is actually good. Now they wont believe CivFR. LOL, especially after CivFR tell them the not very-logical story that we have no units in touch and we did not put any demands or conditions, nor explanation why we declare them a war.

All good insights. Do not fall for their bluffs. They are scared, feeling the noose closing around them... but they do suspect we have allies ...Of that I am sure. They are trying to figure out if CivFr is one of our allies. That is why Scooter is so pressed to know what is going on with CivFr.
We just need to not mess things up or get distracted with this CivFr stuff.

Yeah, that is a very good sign that Scooter seemed surprised by CivFr war - and even better, suspects we planned it together. Ideally, we should follow through and make CivFr our true ally

Someone give background about Fort Alamo? I think it is a fort where the few US soldiers fought overwhelming Mexican army and died with honor? It fits the current situation.

Anyone mind if I chat Scooter to try to get some info about their war? According to CivStats, it appears that they razed (the city formerly known as) Wasserburg, which must have been renamed Fort Alamo when the Germans played during their half of the timer. A picture of the city is in the German diplo thread.

Texas was originally a part of Mexico, but a bunch of American settlers had moved in and were fighting a war to separate from Mexico to join the US. The Mexican army attacked the Alamo and killed everyone there. It became a rallying cry that motivated more people to join the revolution and eventually defeat the Mexicans.
Also, Pee Wee Herman fans will know that the Alamo has no basement

That is right... The Alamo is is an old Spanish Church where the Texas Independence fighters (or traitorous rebels, depending on what side you are on
) made into a fort and fought their last stand against the Mexican Army led by general Antonio Lopez De Santa Ana. 300 Texas volunteers including American Heros/legends like Davy Crockett and Sam Bowie (The huge knife Crocodile Dundee carries is a "Bowie knife") all died agaisnt 10,000 Mexican Army... Or so goes the legend.Alamo = Thermopolaye = "the 300"... It is all the same similar general legend.

Yeah, that sounds like something RB would do. Will we be able to tell the difference when we log in, or will it just look like a bare road whether they kept or razed the city?
I am afraid we may not see the difference in the map (unless we exchange maps with RB).
But we should be able to see Fort Alamo listed as RB city in diplo window - unless they re-named it. Anyway, if we knew how many cities RB had before we should be able to tell from the diplo window if they razed. Agree that razing would be strange thing for them to do - they should have no probs defending the city.
