Jesus christ is it really that hard to choose? If this isn't resolved by the time I'm done with dinner, Mosher wins.

Okay, Mosher is leader, but now I don't actually have any goddamn time until like after midnight.

Your king, Cacame Awemedinade, has sent your group, Lïdul, The Tight Pants, out into the wilderness in order to "re-appropriate" resources from the native population of trees, minerals, and giant eagles. Your expedition leader, Mosher Khurpal, has picked an area heavily forested with a temperate climate betwixt the life-giving waters of an average-size river flowing south to your immediate east and a deep, circular lake to your west. There are hills to your north, but the terrain you stand on, as well as the land to the south, is rather flat. There are rumors of abundant metals throughout the rock, as well as a complete lack of the scourge of all dwarfkind, the dreaded aquifer. You feel exhilarated to finally be at your destination, and are ready to make it your new home.

Once a butcher shop is operational I, Edir, will get hunting; we are going to first need to have a way to ensure what I catch is made into food. A kitchen will also help us in preparing said food.

Yeah maybe you should dig a hole in the ground first.

Might add some murky pools or something, I dunno. I suck at drawing.

That squawking M is an eagle and the angry fish is a carp. I put the wagon further west than I intended but whatever. Good enough.

I will come up with a plan tonight. If everyone would like to leave suggestions until then, I will consider them.

Right we need to start chopping some wood (we will need a wood-chopper though) so we can set up a carpenter workshop and perhaps a mason workshop. These will be open air but fear not; they are to be temporal. We will also need a kitchen and butchery so I can do my work as a collector of meat, while Urist McHannibal butches and cooks said meat. We will also will need the fat for later when we begin to make soap. We will then need to start digging, perhaps beginning with a room for sleep and the development of the needed tomb. Trust me: I have heard the ghost stories.

I will begin hunting once the butchery is set up. I would suggest we develop some kind of training yard for me and Danda Farkar to practice our weapons skills, before I try to bring some supper. In the mean time I can do some scouting to see whether there are other creatures other than giant eagles in the local area.

Wait... we may need a bower so I can have a crossbow! Useless hunting without a weapon, huh?

Sleeping rooms are low priority and tombs are even lower at this point, and training yards and food production are needed less than labor currently.

You already have the tools needed to hunt with.

I did not see a crossbow and the bolts to shoot with it on the item list. :(

You have enough food for a year. If you're a miner, soldier, hunter, or lumberjack, you already have your own tools.

There we go. You're not going to be hunting for a little while anyways.

Division of Labor

  • Mosher Khurpal - Miner/Leader/Mason
  • Urist McUrist - Miner/Mason
  • Edir Meydes - Hauler
  • Urist McCarpenter - Brewer/Carpenter
  • Urist McHannibal - Lumberjack
  • Dval Angzulban - Grower/Brewer
  • Danda Farker - Hauler
  • Mech McMosher - Hauler

This is the preliminary way I'm dividing labor for now.

Urist McCarpenter Accepts this assignment with joy

Edir will take his crossbow with him while hauling just in case of any giant eagle attacks.

You guys know this is update is a week right? Like you will literally have a hole in the ground. You will almost certainly be sleeping on the ground, but since you aren't pansy-ass migrants, you can take it.

The only jobs that can be done right now are mining, lumberjack, hauling, herbalism, fishing, and hunting. By the way, your "so totally set on food supplies" is only relevant if migrants don't show up. So basically you have to kill them if you don't want to get more food.

Edir will take his crossbow with him while hauling just in case of any giant eagle attacks.

Hahahahaha.

This Week's Agenda

-We're going to clear cut the surrounding area. Every tree within like 10 tiles of the start should be cut down.

-Create a seperate stockpile for refuse, wood, food, and then everything else.

-Dig a 2x2 staircase down into the earth, and then a long, 2 tile wide tunnel straight from there. At the end, on either side, there will be two 3x3 rooms that farms will be put on. At the end of the hallway, it should open into a room slightly larger than the rest of the hallway, which will be our meeting place.

-If time allows, create another 2x2 staircase down onto the next level, and create a similar hallway, with 3x3 compartments on either side of the hallway; 3 on each side should be satisfactory for now. This will be the workshop floor.

-Set a pasture area around the wagon somewhere, and set the river as our source of fresh water and as a fishing zone.
