Fox06 -- Need For Speed

@Berserks: There is still a "maybe" slot, so if frankcor doesn't want it, you can have it.

@Rex: suggest you inject some brain matter next

.. the hut is still there.

fox06-BC3970-hut-gold.jpg

And woohoo, what a great site our capitol is! We can delay argiculture quite a bit. Speaking of our capital, shouldn't be too difficult to recognize the reference to its name.

Yet another hut to the north, and our speedy scout rushed there ...

Save ourselves 7 turns :dance:

And then, the war horn sounded.

fox06-BC3790-mao.jpg

Yikes, get the hell out ... and find another hut.

fox06-BC3760-hut-archery.jpg

Never been so good to hear Spock's voice.

And then, one more ... this time is gold.

fox06-BC3670-hut-gold.jpg

Huts, huts, huts everywhere.

And all of a sudden, our hutty wet dreams ends abruptly.

:aargh:

The same turn our scout dies, someone founded Buddhism. So that scout of ours must actually be Buddha ... according to some sutra, the Buddha had once cut its own flesh to feed the eagles. Alas the lion has a much bigger appetite.

Thereafter, it is simply pressing enter and staring at the Chinese warrior for 300 years:

fox06-BC3400-mao-warrior.jpg

How long is he gonna stay there???? (He is still there at the end of my turnset).

Thus, despite having horses nearby, we are in a dire situation.

fox06-BC3340-horses.jpg

Worker is going to be done in 2 turns, but we can't protect him long enough to connect the horses. Hmmm .... executive decision time: I am gonna tweak the variant rule again: The need for speed rule will come into effect only after we successfully produce the first 2-movement military unit. We must built one as soon as possible.

The map revealed before Buddha gains enlightenment:

>>> The Save (3100BC) <<<

Roster
-- Fox == love Spock's voice
-- Rex == UP for more eye-staring with Mao
-- Ralph == ready your reins
-- Bede == feed your stead
-- ChrTh == pray for it to arrive in time
-- maybe slot == who wants in?

--

Frank's got it first, so I'll leave it to him to decide whether or not he's up for the mayhem.

Okay, I got it. I'll play tonight. Good call on the variant shift. While might possibly hook up the horse eventually, this sets the tone a little better for building us some horsies.

Alright, I'll take that slot. That also means I'm at my limit for SGs, and all of them with Rex ... oh boy....

Just a word of caution: you might want to lay off the Yankees for while.

Well, I know that Fox changed the variant rule, but I thought I'd try something else. I decided to see if the Chinese warrior would follow our worker, figuring, if he did, we could dance our *two* movement worker around him. So that's what I did.

gamble0000.JPG

And he didn't follow. A few turns later and we have pasturized horseflesh.

So I immediately changed our build to a chariot. Yes, we were only a few turns away from warrior two (I had started him thinking I'd have to defend the worker and the capital), but the spirit of this game says nothing but horses cuts it for us.

Then, when BW came in...

whipourhorsies0000.JPG

I swapped to slavery...

slavery0000.JPG

And whipped us a horse. Yeah, that's earlier than I usually like to whip, but I was tired of that warrior pestering our capital.

So, what do you do with a chariot when a chinaman threatens your interests?

deadwarrior0000.JPG

Apparently, you barely win. It'll take six turns to heal him back up, so I didn't do any scouting. That's up to Mr. Jackson.

BTW, all, sorry about the hard to read dates. I'm trying out Ruff's modpack (which I don't think I like) and it changes colors on all kinds of crap.

You have the option to turn off the coloring (just need to meddle with Ruff's Mod .ini) which frankly I didn't like either. One suggestion for Ruff's mod is to have the option to turn on the tiling, yields, resources on load just like HoF mod.

I am surprise by the behavior of the AI warrior ... they would usually follow the worker or attack the city. But good job on NOT needing the variant tweak! :goodjob:

We should probably chop off all trees around the capital ... yeah health will take a hit but it's better to remove the defense bonus for AI (mounted units don't get them).

Oh I realized I didn't specify how many turns to play and apparently Rex played 20 only I think. I actually intended for you and Ralph to play 25, then the rest play 20 for their first turnset (I think I did put the numbers in a previous roster in parenthesis). But I guess even if I had spelt it out, Rex won't follow rules anyway.

So it's up to the next player to choose whether to play 20 or 25 turns for the first turnset. 2nd round onwards, we will drop to 10 or 15 each player. That means if your significant other is not particularly needy of you for whatever chore he/she has in mind, you may go ahead and play 15. If you are running short of time, such as SO is threatening to defenestrate (learn a new word from Deviant Minds ;)) your laptop, then play 10.

Roster
-- Fox == love Spock's voice
-- Rex == mesmerized the chinaman
-- Ralph == UP for some riding
-- Bede == saddle up
-- ChrTh == pray harder ...
-- Berserks == avoid selecting a Yankee breed as mount

Or try the alt-j in-game options, select the NJACM (or similar) and turn the colours off. I don't like the colours either.

OK got it for some suitably obscure and confusing number of turns roughly in the 20 to 25 range. ( I am actually cr*p at counting turns so get my apologies in early).

Rex probably plays a different number of turns just to goad Greyfox where as with me it will be pure incompetence...... :)

Ummm the chariot barely winning must be a slight revenge from the RNG for the good luck of popping 2 techs from huts in the first round

Oh, the magic "curse" word! :bowdown:
It's so good to use it against someone who doesn't know the meaning. And you can tell who didn't get the word only by his/her face... It's so good to laugh on the face of who "cursed you back"! :lol:

You guys will run out of city names if you stick to the NFS sub-titles. You may try some other games like Burnout as well! :thumbsup:

Back to the lurker's cage...

Ahh...carbon for Need For Speed: Carbon. Here I was, seeing the pigs, thinking spaghetti carbonara. :) I'm hungry. Also, the chariot barely winning was more of a factor of me going against a fortified, tree-dwelling enemy without looking at the odds. Plot defense was +50%, fortify was +25%. So, we we're 4.0 vs 3.5. According to the combat log, we were 70.3% favored to win. And we did. :)

Maybe I'll look at the odds a little better next time I attack a warrior with a chariot.

And the poverty stricken monk was thinking Carbon=Diamonds. Depends on the need of the moment I guess.

Don't worry, Chris, we'll probably have coal in the BFC. The odds, however, for either pasta, diamonds, or sports cars are significantly slimmer.

(Yes, I'm well aware of the relationship between diamonds and coal, flame me.)

Edit: duh...forgot there were gems in already. flame me twice.

(Yes, I'm well aware of the relationship between diamonds and coal, flame me.)

Relationship as in "If you shove a piece of coal up <insert some big fat ugly person's name>'s a$$, it will turn into diamond in 2 weeks" ??

(do anybody recall a line like this in a *very* old movie? I remmember it was Michael J Fox ... )

Ferris Beuler, I think. "She's so uptight, you could stick a lump of coal up her *** and, two weeks later, you'd have a diamond."
