French/European No-Go Zones?

I've never had any knock on my door, but once I saw some standing outside my masjid handing out copies of the bible calling it the Muslim word "injeel" and just basically trying to sell it to masjid going Muslims as something close to their religion but better. I felt kind of bad for them because everyone was ignoring them, myself included. What can I say, I have no interest in reading the Bible.

One thing I can't understand is why door to door evangelism hasn't been banned. It's free speech taken too far.

The last time I got a visit from somebody who wanted to "talk about god" I shouted at him that there is no God but God and Mohammed is his Prophet, and then I slammed the door. They never bothered me again.
It probably helped that I had a full beard at the time.

I'm more annoyed by those weirdos who prostelyze in the streets. Just last year I was accosted by some guy who looked like a Hipster and wanted to sell me a Bhagavad Ghita, an Amrican accented dude who was almost certainly a Mormon and two Chinese -a young man and a girl- self professed "Christian theologians" who were very eager to tell me (in broken German) about some Heavenly Mother or somesuch. And last time I was Frankfurt there was a black dude -probably Nigerian if I'm any good at recognizing accents- holding a public english language sermon with extra fire and brimstone.
I'm all for religious freedom, but Jesus Christ, keep it to yourself.

It's really no trouble at all to say "No, thanks." Perhaps even "This conversation is over." if they're particularly tenacious. Much less annoying, in about every single way, than politically active people everywhere.

I've had Bibles shoved into my hands by some of these evangelist loons. They don't take no for an answer.

If someone forces something into your hands against your will that is the point where it is okay to be a little rude to them. Next time it happens, throw it on the ground in front of them and walk away. Don't be dramatic about it or say anything to them, just drop it and walk away. I've done that before to people passing out fliers, pamphlets and, books before, and just that one simple little gesture of rejection can go a long way to discouraging them from trying to force their message on anyone else.

I want to make fliers / pamphlets that say:

'Stop worrying about what your imaginary god thinks and enjoy sodomy'.

That would probably earn you a conviction for wrongful imprisonment.

They're not so bad in the UK. Couple of street preachers who seem a few gospels sort of a New Testament, but most door-to-door missionaries are elderly Jehovah's Witnesses who seem to have taken up religion as a way to pass the time, and they're persistent but manageable. You'll occasionally get young American Mormons, too, but I've always found them to be unfailing polite. (If anything, they seem a little embarrassed to interrupt.)

I remember a random preacher type coming up to me in oxford street and saying I was going to hell, charming but best just to blank such people, i do occasionally find myself drawn into conversation with jehovahs witnesses, just because they always seem so nice, I feel guilty ignoring them
