Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Delete the account, which deletes all associated posts (at the risk of crippling discussions) and start afresh?

I fear you are making a mountain out of a mole hole here. If you have someone determined to dig up dirt about you the best might be to move to the Gobi desert and cut all lines of communication. :p

The task is a big one and you are not the first to ask. Even if you went through all of your posts and edited them, that would not change when a post was quoted by another poster. Those don't change when you edit the original. I'm not sure there is an easy way to find every instance where you are quoted and once you did, those would have to be edited by a staff member or the person who made the quote.

That doesn't delete all associated posts, though. If you look at really old threads, you'll see some posts from deleted accounts (e.g. stellar converter). Account deletion would just mean you have no control over those posts anymore. But they'd still be there.

Can banned and suspended people PM mods? I've always been curious about that.

I went back and read the other posts. It seems you do not want to cut the Gordian knot alltogether.
However it is not your fault if there exist people who bother with your past on the web. Just think what that makes them. If you want to move on, you could try to be content that you are who you are in the present, and it does not matter what you posted in the past.
At least that is my view, and i think most other people think this way too.

Unless the purpose is to spam is with reports, we normally appreciate if somebody reports more than if he reported less ;).
And the way to avoid the same person repeatedly reporting a post is to do something about the post sooner, rather than later (or at least PM the reporter and let him/her know it's being looked at and to please stop).

Hm... Spamming you guys sounds so tempting. I'll try to stay strong though. :D

Hopefully, we won't come to this. It's just hard to keep track when there is a bunch of posts/threads to report. And my memory isn't at its best recently. Holidays, you know... :crazyeye:
