FTS-02 The Immortal One

One thing that I forgot to do was to put the Space Elevator into our build queue. I meant to do that after Robotics came in, but I forgot.

I was curious if we were in the required area that allowed us to build it. I take it that's a yes, than.

Razed Giza

They're not here yet, so let me say our military is basically shot. I razed three cities, but at the cost of a lot. It'll take a while for our military to heal.

I believe Saladin nuked Thebez. You'd think there'd be a pop-up or something.

No time for the roster. Sorry for going over the 48.

Edit:Here's the 1880 AD save.

As it turns out, I didn't go away this weekend, so I'll be able to take my turn here.

Are we committing to a Space Ship victory? I'll wait for your expanded turn description, and the save.

Looks like successful turns Methos. Does your turn-logger record bomber attacks or did we not use them?

Wow, an AI used a nuke? I've not seen that before, I thought there was a bug which meant they don't use them. But it's pretty cool if they did.

Mike, do you want to pick up S-03 too? :mischief:

I used them, both to remove the culture defense bonus and cause collateral damage to the units stationed in the city. It appears the turn-logger doesn't note them. :hmm:

I was rather shocked myself. There was a quick flash on the screen and yellow clouds appeared around Thebez. All tile improvements (except some roads) were gone.

I'd seen the AI use nukes before, but that was when I was testing them out and used the WB to give nukes to the AI. Never seen them use it during a normal game though.

That sucks! I'm getting this message...

FTS-02 AD-1880.Civ4SavedGame:
Your file of 501.7 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 500.0 KB for this filetype.

Currently I'm having trouble with the Easy Upload File system, and have stated so in that thread in the Site Forum. Once that's resolved I'll upload it there.

I knew I tried to upload it this morning. I must have missed that comment due to being in a hurry.

Edit: Fixed now, and have added the save. Odd though, as I still can't upload the screenshots I took during this game.

1880 AD I fire four scientists and hire 4 engineers. This shaves one turn off of the Space Elevator.

1882 AD I consolidate our troops, pulling back from Egyptian territory and promoting an infantry to Medic. It looks like a couple of our Panzers were fortifying until healed in Egyptian territory.

1886 AD I notice that fission is still researchable, so I don't think Saladin nuked anyone. Hatty completes the Apollo program.

1888 AD Saladin completes the Apollo program and we complete the Space Elevator. I start a Docking Bay. Saladin has four casings underway. I'm thinking we should build the expensive stuff and let him handle the casings and thrusters so that we don't end up with an expensive component being built in a crap city.

I spy some Aluminum in the process of being mined by Saladin. I send over some workers to finish the mine and ask for Sally's surplus aluminum.

1896 AD 2 SS Casings completed by Saladin

1898 AD Another SS Casing Complete. Hatty moves about 5 marines up to the city we've been beseiging. She's got a CG2 Marine fortified there and I didn't want to attack right away. One of our bombers gets shot down. Most of her other cities are less well defended so I bypass Memphis with our Panzers and head them towards Alexandria. I pull our infantry back into the forests north of Memphis.

1900AD Fission done, start fiber optics. I attack Alexandria and defeat 3 units. I've told Saladin to attack Alexandria. We have one panzer with a move remaining that can kill off the last unit and raze the city, or we can leave it for Saladin. Your choice.

Saladin popped a great engineer a few turns ago. If he still has it and our next great person is something else, we should try gifting it to him so he can start a golden age.

Wow, looks like this game is officially a "mop up". Hatty is completely pillaged and is out of the space race. Well done Methos and Mike :goodjob:. I've got it and will play today to bring this game to a conclusion as soon as possible.

OK, I razed 3 egyptian cities (Alexandria, Sparta and Memphis). Saladin will take another (Lyons) next turn. Back in the medieval ages, Alex declared on Izzy and took Barcelona with cats and rifles. We got a scientist. Saladin no longer had his GP and would probably need more than 2 people to start a golden age so I burned him on Fibre Optics. Finished docking bay, built a supermarket and some planes. When Fibre Optics came in Saladin was already building the cockpit so it wasn't an option to build. He started it in Mecca and will only take 5 turns so that's OK. I gave him his only fish back and built an airport too. I started Manhatten Project (due in 4) for some entertainment. We're researching Fusion (due in 6). Saladin has built all the casings and thrusters. Take us to Alpha Centuri Conroe!

Got it! I'm not sure if I will have enough time to play it today, but I am going to try to do it later. If not, I should have no problems playing it tomorrow.

I must say, I am now most curious to find out what happened at Thebes if Sal didn't nuke it. I know that a nuclear plant can have a meltdown, but Hatty most likely didn't have the techs for that either. Can a coal plant explode, I wonder?

Didn't think of that. I'm not sure if they had a nuclear plant or not, but that does seem more reasonable. With as much as Saladin was attacking it and covering the majority of its tiles, Thebes was definitely experiencing both starvation and unhapp citizens. I'll have to look at the save later and see.

<lurker>:king:
Nice work, I really enjoyed the read.

OCC games make for good stories for lurkers, with less units/cities/builds to try and keep track of.

So thanks a lot for doing it.:goodjob:

Well, it looks like this game is over except for the spaceship. We only have 4 more parts to build, but we are missing the techs for 3 of them.

Turn 334 (1924 AD)
Berlin begins: Battleship
And, I finally remember to turn off Show Friendly Moves before pressing enter. :p

IBT:
Isabella and Alexander sign a preaty. Meanwhile, Saladin builds us the SDI.

Turn 340 (1930 AD)

There are 3 turns left on the Genetics research, as well as 3 turns on the spaceship engine. This game should be over in about 15 or 20 turns.

Only 1 screenshot this time, a look at our fair city ...

Glad you are enjoying the game! OCC is a rather fun way to play [civ4].
