[GS] Gathering Storm Screenshots Discussion Thread

Well, a World Congress selecting a world leader is not historical, and maybe not terribly realistic, but it makes some kind of logical sense. A world leader selected by a council of city-states? Not so much.
I heard we just elected head of Interpol by a council of city-states (not them only, of course, but mostly). Is world leader that different?

The ski resort looks more like Aspen anyway?

if not that (which I don't think it is), then it's probably a tile improvement you can only build adjacent to mountains. (notice how the slope extends into the tile next to the mountain)

As always, I made a little table to keep track of what we know and puzzle things together to fit the announced content. Did I miss anything?

And yes, I know it contains some speculation.
No new City States were announced, but since the Cothon is a thing, there has to be at least a Carthage replacement.

At last Canals!!! Every time I was around EMEA map I would try to build city that acts like SUEZ canal. Similar, If I was in a US map, I would build a city to act like Panama canal!

Please also add this feature on future update:

1) civilian vessels passing from canal have to pay eg 2gold per passage

2) Military vessels passing from canal have to pay eg 2 gold per passage if moving for exploration / peacefull reasons. Have to negotiate permission for passing for war to other civ. If allied 1 gold per passage for peace and no permission required for war.

This would cause another field for conflict! Who wouldnt want to control such a strategically located city?

Shipyards can repair other civ vessels (if peace of course) for 2g per turn (allow healing inside peaceful civ city with shipyard)

Not sure if it's been pointed out yet, but you can just barely make out a second ski resort in the top right corner.

Good spot! It's not cast-iron but I can't think of anything else that has that snowy effect. So I'm guessing the ski resort is either an improvement or a district that has to be built on a mountain...

Notice also in the ski resort how the building is tilted on the mountain. A wonder wouldn't have a tilted building because it's unique.

I am afraid that any Diplomatic victory, regardless of implementation, won't make sense in terms of history and logic.
How does cultural victory make sense? Or a rocket to mars? If you really wanna go down that route, then I'd say domination or diplomatic are the only two that makes sense.

i still think it's just a improvement like the beach resort. The graphics are similarly elaborate and not as unique as if it was a wonder.
Another thing that crossed my mind: if they added tunnels and made mountains somewhat useable/workable, why stop there? Make other improvements that fit on mountains.

I wonder what the scale refers to on the World Climate screen? I - VII...

Can't refer to eras, as there are already 8 of those and they are adding a new one.

Maybe there's 7 different states that the climate can be in? So water can "only" rise 7 times? dunno...

@Turrdy found this in one of the screenshots

definately not a standard horseman and neither cavalry. Maybe new medieval light cav to fill the gap?

The shields make me think heavy cav, but the lack of boarding makes me think light cav. It is not clear.

I think it would be like "Polar Ice will start to melt and the sea level start to rise at Level 4" or "Storms would cause 2x more destruction at level 6"

Reskinned horseman is my guess.

I'm assuming they show the severity of climate change. A slowly filling bar with a number of thresholds. Big improvement over a hidden counter.
