Gator01 - Team B - 100K

I'll wait for you to play another three turns then. :)

THE SAVE

turn 7 - 1170AD, cont'd
OK, sign Rome and Japan against England. We get an additional 24g and 16gpt for our Wines from Japan.
Change a couple of Cav builds to Factories as suggested.

turn 8 - 1180AD
Found another town and two more settlers are in position.
Shortrush more Temples.

IT
Persia and Rome Ally against Japan. Seems the WW is progressing nicely nicely. :) Persia and Egypt sign peace.

turn 9 - 1190AD
More cities added, temples rushed and workers, we need much, much more workers!

turn 10 - 1200AD
OK, Medicine is due in 9 turns, our ToE Palace pre-build is due in 22: too soon.

I've been careful not to RR the mines around Forbidden Legend AND SO SHOULD THE NEXT PLAYER. ;)
Hopefully one of the AI will come through for us and research it. Maybe we should save up a few of our gold for that the next few turns.

I haven't sold our Raxes yet, for fear of losing Parsagadea to a flip. Our growing culture should help with that. Mapstat cliams it need only 0..2 units to be save. It currently has 4, so I guess we could make a few bucks selling them.

Duly noted. :D

Got it.

1200 (0): I cut the luxury rate to zero, which we can do without difficulty.

The Romans are furious with us despite our anti-English alliance.

Moscow factory --> coal plant. This is worth doing in productive towns when Hoover is still some distance in the future.

Six towns complete temples, with the aid of a little low-cost rushing.

1210 (1): We found New Owego and New Neodakheat.

1220 (2): I'm going to go into despotism for a bout of pop-rushing, and then into republic, since our huge WW from the Roman war is no longer an issue. So, we revolt to despotism.

1230 (3): We take Birmingham from two English riflemen, when a probing attack intended mostly to establish the strength of the garrison goes well (2-0).

We whip up twenty cathedrals and invest another 27 citizens in partial rushes, then revolt to republic.

1240 (4): We're at 321 gpt, 10-0-0 in republic.

We auto-raze Exeter (recently founded near Birmingham), held by one rifleman (3-0).

We complete four more cathedrals with 80-gold cash-rushes.

We repel a minor English counterattack, made by a rifleman (4-0).

1250 (5): We complete one more cathedral and two libraries with 76-gold cash-rushes.

Berlin coal plant --> Heroic Epic.

1255 (6): We cash-rush ten temples.

England and Egypt make peace.

Smolensk factory --> coal plant.

1260 (7): We found New Oiogouen.

We cash-rush four temples.

Moscow coal plant --> worker (food box full).

1265 (8): We take Richmond from its garrison of two riflemen, losing a cav (6-1).

We cash-rush two temples and a library.

The Egyptians take Centralia from the Romans, which may prove inconvenient.

We're first to Medicine with our forty-turn run.

1270 (9): We can self-research Scientific Method in about 13 turns--16 turns at 40% right now, but we should be able to boost the research rate later on--and that seems the best course.

We cash-rush two temples.

Berlin HEROIC EPIC --> university (but switch to US as pre-build possible).

1275 (10): Well, a quiet round, but we did get a lot of cultural structures built. We're now at 23921 cp and 451 cpt.

There hasn't been much apparent movement on the English-Roman front. The English hold five Roman cities, but they already did at the beginning of my round.

One elite victory didn't produce a Great Leader.

We face the familiar technical problem of preparing for ToE and Hoover with only one good pre-build. We'll want to start a Military Academy pre-build in Smolensk after (though perhaps not immediately after) it completes its coal plant, timed to finish just after we get Scientific Method. That way we'll be able to build ToE in Smolensk, and simultaneously finish Hoover with the palace pre-build in Forbidden Legend, three or four turns after we learn SM, if that seems safe. If it doesn't, we can build ToE in Forbidden Legend as soon as we have SM, and Smolensk will still be within six or seven turns of Hoover.

We could also aim for the ideal outcome of getting both ToE and Hoover on the turn we learn SM by pre-building ToE with Universal Suffrage in Berlin. This would leave Berlin to build a very expensive university if any other civ completed US before we knew SM, which is probably at least a 50% chance, but that might not matter too much in this particular game.

What we can see of the tech situation hardly changed during my round. The Persians still have a monopoly on Corporation, and we have one on Medicine.

Some of our cities working on factories look to be a long way from completing them, but things should improve when we get workers to their tiles. We don't have too many uncorrupt cities, so we need to be persistent about getting factories built in almost all of them.

I haven't sold our barracks. Like Space, I prefer to keep them as a precaution, since they cost no maintenance anyway now that we have Sun Tzu.

Feel free to adjust the balance of cities building settlers and cities building workers as you see fit.

Our peace treaty with Persia is just about to expire, so trouble could develop there.

Great improvement of our cpt! At this rate Japan will have 60k when we hit 100k, which isn't too bad actually. It's a bummer that Japan is on an island in that they won't be hit too severly by an AI-AI war. The up side to this is that they will probaly not increase their number of cities, this leaves them virtually stuck at the current cpt rate.

And in this era, we should be able to conquer our way through the Roman lands and into Japan pretty quickly, once we get our army well built up.

MB, I think that formally you've still played more recently than Ainwood; but as we've been saying a lot in this game, just go ahead if you have the opportunity. The next ten turns will be fairly simple unless we're attacked, since we're far too feeble to start anything ourselves.

Ainwood, MB can't play at the moment as detailed in the SP3 thread, so you're definitely up. :)

Set Research to Radio.
Switch Forbidden to Hoover Dam.
The Japanes complete universa suffrage.

1340AD:
There is a tile to the south of Skannayutennate that can take a settler.

EOT

I only increased cpt to 490 in these turns. I was more concerned with getting the tech lead and ensuring we got TOE and Hoovers. I also settled about 10 or so new cites and there are a couple of settlers still on there way to fill gaps. I have turned research off, but that doesn't mean anything. It wouldn't hurt to research to fission at least, and then to the internet afterwards.

Not much to say really. We need to begin military builds. I would suggest building arty until we can build tanks, and go from there.

Good luck to the next player. :)

Haven't sold off the coal plants yet. I forgot to be honest. Pollution is beginning to hit quite hard so it needs to be done.

I haven't looked at the save yet, but that sounds like a good round. :goodjob:

OK - as detailed in the Space3 thread, I can't play until monday

Monday's still some way off. So, BH, would you like to jump ahead of Ainwood? Or you, KB?

I don't think you want me playing anyway.

I don't understand that , but anyway, if you can't you can't. KB?

I'm feeling rather diseased at the moment as well, plus my weekend leaves no time for civ, so I'd be relegated to Monday at best as well.
