Gauntlet Suggestions

Maybe a Religious/Diplo victory, playing as a low peace-weight civ with high peace-weight AIs, or the other way round. Or a Modern era Cultural victory (could be extremely difficult).

I was thinking 1500ish BC so alll you have is alpha and Espionage even before you are in full swing rep / caste. We could play with the slider date, but the overall concept of you must turn off science at X early date for a space victory could be interesting.

I would require a beeline to alphabet and Research slider 00% afterwards. Essentially, an espionage only game.

A new HoF module could hypothetically enforce such restrictions. Let's ignore for the moment the design and implementation resources that would be required. Such a module would definitely be desireable for increasing participation in the HoF.

An alternative would be the player and all AIs start with alphabet and must always have the research slider pinned to 00%.

Unfortunately, the AIs ignore the player's peiceweight and other AI diplomatic attributes. These are only used for AI-AI diplomatic relationships. They are never used for Player-AI diplomatic relationships. The player's leader diplomatic attributes are simply ignored by the AIs; the struck out statements are not true and don't really make sense; I regret making them.

Wrong subforum. Could be a possibility for GOTM/SGOTM. Although it might have to have everyone starting in isolation *cough* brokering *cough*. Or no tech trading and the HOF giving constant messages. A special mod would be needed for the AIs on 0%.

One way to get Alphabet at the start without any modification of HoF rules is requiring a mediaeval era start. Yes, pinning research to 00% would require a change in the HoF module; I actually suggested that in an earlier post.

Although, the HoF does not currently allow for games that start with a certain subset of technologies other than the various starting eras, I see no harm in suggesting other possibilities, even though they will likely be rejected by the HoF Staff. In any case, my recent suggestions were sincere.

An increase in participation in the HoF might result after some careful changes in HoF rules. A lot of really fun competitions (that might help increase HoF participation) are shot down by HoF Staff, because it can't be completely verified automatically. If players are unaniously willing to allow some game restrictions be voluntarilly complied with, perhaps the HoF Staff would allow it?

The AIs would be more likely to vote for each other, which would decrease your votes.

Thanks to this comment, I realized that not everything I said was true or made sense. I corrected my previous post on this topic.

My late start culture victory suggestion was probably too hard Maybe Medieval, so there's more competition for things like Parthenon and Sistine. Might end up too hard though, as there's less time to accumulate the culture. Maybe allow any civ (except Inca) to make it easier, might find a lot of Gandhi (SPI/PHI, Fast Worker) and Qin Shi Huang (Industrious, Cho-ko-Nu for easier warring, Pavilion) though.

Why ban Inca if it's a non-ancient start?
It might be the perfect time to choose them for their IND/FIN traits instead of the UU.

How long until I can suggest the next Deity-major-Gauntlet?
Sorry Seraiel, that is difficult to say. There is no strict formula when we chose the Gauntlets other than trying to not be repetitive. I would say I don't expect another until 5 or 6 G-Majors from now. However, in the interest of greater participation, it could be sooner. Of course, there are no guarantees.

I'd be in favor of a another deity gauntlet sooner than than later.

Suggestion for the next Major Gauntlet:

Deity
Huge
Marathon
Space Race!
Terra
Warlords!
Plz tell me which leaders are FIN in Warlords, I cannot check this currently

Gauntlet should run for 2 Months. I find the setup very interesting, because the old Space Races are not contested anymore.
This slot has a very beatable victory date, so the winner would probably get 100 points for EQM and 90 points for QM + a Space Race victory which many probably still can need.

I would also really welcome a Deity Gauntlet. My only Deity win so far was an AP cheese for the last challenge, so I'm currently working (and failing) on getting a real Deity game going. A Gauntlet game would be great because of the possibility of starting over a few times and getting feedback from good players. I'd prefer BtS though, just because I never played vanilla/warlords.

That's odd, like this, the old Space Races will never be contested but stand there 'til the end of time.

But ok, how about a BtS Major Gauntlet with Darius against the 770AD large Marathon Space Colony?

I would have to play that. But it'd be nice to have leader choice. Compete Inca vs. Darius vs. Liz ?surprise leader?
