GeneNES
With a snapping sound, lights crackled on in a large, enclosed space. A large group of penguins and polar bears could be seen taking part in civil discussion, and several uncivil acts of miscellaneous violence. A coalition of assorted pandas, otters and Safavid Persians made up the NAO delegation. Various Owls, Leperchauns, Vegetable Overlords, Hedgehogs, Hamsters, Moose, Non-NAO Pandas and Otters, and Walrii were also to be found in the area.
But yes. Noted Penguin Technician Pikt, NESLife has been updating a little slowly lately.
Though the artwork is fantastic... quietly noted one Otter.
Stop whining, Daftpanzer has a life too! noted one Hamster, reaching for his death ray. His intentions may never be known, as a polar bear stepped on him a second later.
Anyhoo, resumed Pikt, I had a thought. What if we ran an inverted NESlife? Horrible artwork, but quick updates?
I thought that we were parts of an NES, not running a NES. Grunted one larger polar bear.
I know, its like... meta2. Weird.
But still an interesting idea.
Indeed. And that is why I brought you all here- To start a genetic NES!
Isnt it a ripoff of Spore the NES as well?
No, our artwork is worse. Tekk!
Yes?
Start the life processes!
Affirmative.
Lights focused on a large tank of nutrient-rich water in the center of the building.
Initiating time field.
A bluish hazy field buzzed into appearance around the tank.
Electrical stimulus initiated. Hydrogen/Carbon/Oxygen/Nitrogen/Phosphorus/Sulphur Compounds: Check. Complex molecules: Check. We have nucleotides. We have phospholipids. Amino Acids: Check... We have membrane formation... we have proteins... we have... LIFE!
Applause echoed throughout the chamber. On an overhead screen, a magnified picture appeared. It was...
Its a... bubble. Noted a hedgehog.
Its a cell! Isnt it magnificent?
One of the circular things started to break in half. Half of the audience applauded, the other half stared confusedly. Pikt let out one shout before croud noise drowned out all else.
Let the evolutionary wars begin!
Rules
Simple. You take one creature from the update, and evolve it. I will then draw it (note that the drawings are extremely simple) in the update. Evolution is much less structured here than in other NESes. Just describe what is changed and write a brief description. An example can be found in the starting stats. Things you add would be along the lines of 'Cell Wall', Flagella, 'Digestion', etc. 1 Trait and One Evolution Per turn. Alternatively, you could start to turn your species into a multicellular organism. We'll see how things go!
Stats
Protus
Evolved From: Primordial Soup
The very first lifeform. A small, reproducing cell which feeds on nutrients it comes across.
Novus
Evolved From: Protus
The second lifeform. With an enclosed nucleus and internal membranes, this species and its successors are poised for great things.
