Kind of old news, but it just shows how dimly the private sector looks on founding fathers.

Men's Wearhouse executive chairman George Zimmer has been "terminated," the clothing retailer said on Wednesday.

Zimmer opened the company's first store in Houston in 1973. He's been the bearded face of Men's Wearhouse (MW) in television ads for years, famously promising men, "You're going to like the way you look. I guarantee it."

The company's press representatives declined to say why it fired the the co-founder.

"The Board [of Directors] expects to discuss with Mr. Zimmer the extent, if any, and terms of his ongoing relationship with the company," the retailer said in a prepared statement.

But in a statement issued by Zimmer Wednesday, he said he was fired because of disagreements over the direction of the company.

"Over the past several months, I have expressed my concerns to the board about the direction the company is currently heading," said the statement. "Instead of fostering the kind of dialogue in the boardroom that has in part contributed to our success, the board has inappropriately chosen to silence my concerns through termination as an executive officer."

Dear God, Deepak Chopra is on their board of directors?

Burn their HQ down, Chopra might be inside!

I see what you did there.

Turns out he holds 3.6% of the stock and is the largest single shareholder, though.

I'll believe that it's unrelated because his name wasn't associated with the company's brand (as far as I know).

I think firing George Zimmer from Men's Wearhouse is like firing Santa from Christmas. Jimmy Kimmel:

Link to video.

Can he sue the media for tarnishing his name?

I dearly hope this ends with Men's Wearhouse releasing an exclusive Trayvon hoodie.

Then they would have to change their famous slogan: "Wannabe cops and vigilantes aren't going to like the way you look."

hey! george zimmer man soundslike george zimmerman u know that guy who in the news

did NEone els notice that ! ?

Then they would have to change their famous slogan: "Wannabe cops and vigilantes aren't going to like the way you look."

They'd be more likely to release the hoodie with a whole new line of suits. They could market them as "police camouflage".
