Hi there.

I'm currently in a Marathon Noble game as Elizabeth. I'm having some real problems with spies though.

Genghis Khan and I have never got on with each other, and lately, he's been sending spies to blow up my aluminium and uranium mines, along with all all my oil wells (Well, I presume it's him). I've built spies to counter him, but even if I leave my spies on the resource squares, he's still able to blow up the resource mines without me discovering his spies?

I'm now pissed off to the point of declaring war on him, which isn't great because he seems to be friendly with everyone, and one of my neighbors is on the cusp of a diplomatic victory. What can I do to get rid of his spies from my territory?

The odds of success or failure of a spy`s mission depend upon
the number of unit the other player has in the space the
mission takes place. If a space is unoccupied the chances of
spy success are high. With each unit in target space the
chances of spy detection and mission failure increase.

Good hunt:spear:

I also find it strange that the description says "can detect opposing spies", and it does simply not work this way.

But I found it a nice counter to simply have as many workers on a field as are needed to rebuild in one turn (for oil on epic, thats 9), and rebuild immediately. This way, your unit production will never be interrupted. But having 3 military units on the square really helps detection them.

Spies function by increasing the odds of an enemy spy being
exposed if it preforms a mission in a nearby tiles.
With more military unit the chances of spy detection increase.

If you has your military and spy on that tile, then it reduce the chance of the other spy. Spy doesn't work like other units, if you spot enemy's spy, then capture it. I'm on 1.52 and the military advisor can tell where they are. ;)

In another thread, someone figured out that the most cost-effective sentries are one military unit on the resource tile, and one spy on it or an adjacent tile. You can pile more units on the tile, but the amount that they'll reduce a spy's chance of success falls rapidly with each additional unit.

Yeah, having several workers standing by is also a good idea. So is conquering enough territory to have multiple sources of each essential resource.
