Ghandhi (EC) Emperor Cookbook! Let the fun begin.

@CBPE

Spoiler :

Sailing is required to use rivers for hookups.

Well, I'm trying to play constantly well at emperor.

This is my 1st round. I`ll appreciate any comments on it.

Spoiler :

I dotted the interesting cities.
First I settled the copper city, then, the corn one (for beakers) and then the marble/horse one.

Research: Hunting, AH, BW, Wheel, Agr, Mas

Nice to see alot of participation in this game. Will be alot of svaes ot vote on. Will be nice to see how everyone else plays the same map. Keep the saves coming.

Spoiler :

Mmhhh...
let me better understand...

If we have city "A" which is connect by a road to a river on which along is city "B" (is the case of either Bombay and Vjayanagara with Delhi in my game), the two city are linked if:

- we've reaserched Sailing

OR

- the road is entirely within the cultural borders.

It's correct?

But I dont' understand why, for example, in grymlock's or joydongo's game they are connected.... :mad:

And so on, in my game, why instead Bombay is linked?!?

P.S.: Hey, can you see the screenshots of my previous post?!?

Now they seem "disappeared", but when I posted the save it seemed me that they were visualized correctly :confused::confused::confused:

It's very strange....

Sorry for the OT:

I've now uploaded them form Imageshack, it should work.

But I don't understand what happened... they compared at the beginning!

If I try to go to the link that results from the uploading of an image by the forum (attachment manager), it compares this message:

"Invalid Attachment specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator"

:confused::confused::confused:

Well, this map certainly appears to be more of a challenge.....

Spoiler :

....especially when you consider Toku has been given the means to become an early Tech juggernaut. He already has ALPHA!!!! Crikeees! What's worse is he's the most hateful bahstahd out there.

I'm forgoing screen shots for this round.

Built Stonehenge but once BW was teched I became a bit worried about strat resources, so focused on the Cap for a bit as opposed to settlers. The result is possibly not getting key sites like the copper to the East. It's still possible though looking at the way the Mongols settled that city. Anyway, I did grab the horsies to the north. I'll probably get questioned for settling on the horses. However, with the way Monty's borders were situated I didn't think another city could grab those fish and now I have a possible early GP farm - not a great one mind you, but more the merrier with Philo. Plus, the horse resource is better protected since it may be my only one for the while. The spice/FP city seemd like a no-brainer but I do have to get a settler SW ASAP. Things do seem strangely slow going this game though.

Toku really concerns me. He will be a problem unless we either attach which will be very difficult I imagine or somehow get him on our side.

I've dealt with Barbs fairly well by building more warriors than usually, but lost a few to completely BS odds. Sometimes I think this game is rigged. How does an unpromoted Barb beat a fortified shock warrior - twice!

Sure I'll get there though, should probably turn off events and huts to make it a bit easier while I learn.
Disabling huts and events won't necessarily make it "easier." It will make your games more "consistent," which is what's useful for improving your gameplay.

Don't know if I should spoiler this, but it's better safe than sorry.
Spoiler :
I wouldn't think anything of it. Toku always beelines alphabet.

Spoiler :
Like a good Barry White song, this save is full of SEX'ing. I'm only at two cities.

Civ4ScreenShot0000.JPG

Delhi has a library, Stonehenge and The Oracle. I chopped four forests to build the Oracle: two on silk, one on spices and one on a now mined grasslands hill. A fifth forest, on another spice, is being chopped to speed up the next settler. Bombay built a barracks, founded Confucism and has The Kong Miao.

Civ4ScreenShot0001.JPG

My technologies are Mining, Mysticism, Hunting, Animal Husbandry, Bronze Working, The Wheel, Meditation, Priesthood, Writing, Archery and Code of Laws (thanks to the Oracle). Agriculture is two turns away.

Do you really want to run a religion different to everyone on your landmass, and more so them being nutjobs?

My save:

Spoiler :
Looks a solid start. Toku is a strong tech leader so could be a pain. I might well consider rushing him asap. You need some strong defenders asap with all those 'Nutjobs' nearby. Would of been nice to have writing by now but you have horse and copper hooked up!

@John Edwards

Spoiler :

To echo kossin, you probably shouldn't be running your own religion with these neighbors. I'd also chop riverside grassland before you chop the spice and silk forests. Those tiles are respectively 2/1/1 and 1/2/1 with a forest on them and you can't build the appropriate tile improvement for a long time. It's generally better to leave them as is so that you can work them if necessary - they're better than working grassland forest or plains forest.

Round closes tomorrow at 6pm GMT and voting will begin. :eek::eek::eek::eek: Hold on to your hat Fluxx!!! :lol:

Spoiler :
What are the options, and the corresponding benefits/drawbacks? No religion? My own, albiet different, religion? Glomping one of the AI's religions? I had decided rather early to shoot towards The Oracle and, presumably, Code of Laws. By the time I was close to finishing, and getting a free tech, I still had no religion and all of the AI, at least those I could see, already had converted to something else. Should I have picked some other tech? Monarchy, perhaps? Iron Working? Pottery-->Metal Casting instead of Writing-->Code of Laws? I was rather looking forward to CoL for the courthouses, caste system and my own religion. Should I have avoided trying for The Oracle entirely?

Kossin, I am a sponge and you are water; please fill me with your wetness.

I hadn't really considered leaving the riverside spice and silk alone. It makes sense, given that they're premium unworked tiles and I can't put the proper improvement on them at the moment. Although I could just farm them for now...hmmmmm. To be fair, though, of the five tiles I've chopped (the last one is almost done chopping) two are outside the BFC and one is now a mined hill.

Spoiler :
With aggressive neighbors, you have a few choices...
-kill them
-befriend them

If you choose to kill them, any religion is fine.
Otherwise, either run the same religion or stay in NSR.

Should you decide to pursue your save, I can almost guarantee a DoW before 1AD. A dogpile would then be very likely.

But...

But, but...but...

But I have four warriors?

:cry:

Sorry one of these days Ill get off my arse and get the photos rollin.

Ok here it is.

Spoiler :
I wanted to go for early library and try to develop the flood plane city.
I think I did alright on the flood plane but the library is late. Hooking up the horse city let me build the two chariots and take Libyan.

We are Brennus's worse enemy and HC isnt fond of us either -4 heathen penalty yeowch. Friends with Monty whom I usually try to kill on sight. Then there's Toku and Gengis who dont have religions yet. Some missionary work may be in our future see if we can get Toku to go Buddhist and somehow make him our friend. This is going to be tough.
