Give Us A Song!!!

Poor Man's Son
Bruce Robison

I was a boy
I was a good little boy
Wantin' in the playground fun
They said na na nay
Boy you can't play
'Cause you were born a poor man's son

I met a girl
She was a pretty little girl
Would you be my only one
She said meet me where nobody can see
'Cause you were born a poor man's son

I spend all my lifetime thinkin' what I coulda done
Then I work my fingers to the bone

I met a man
He was a business man
Said I'm a hard workin' son of a gun
He said you know the rules you shoulda stayed in school
But you were born a poor man's son

I spend all my lifetime thinkin' what I coulda done
Then I work my fingers to the bone

I met a guy
He was a crazy guy
He said I'm gonna get me some
Let's go across the tracks where they keep the jack
All we need is a little black gun
They got the hounds and they tracked us down
They said we know what you have done
You're gonna do the time it's gonna fit the crime
You shoulda shot a poor man's son
You shoulda shot a poor man's son
You shoulda shot a poor man's son

House of Man
Bruce Robison

Somewhere in the dark tonight
Two hearts are beating fast
Lying still in the arms of love
Waves of passion pass
They love each other with all their might
Can't help but be afraid
Gotta go stand in the house of man
To tell them that it's ok

This house was built by man
I saw 'em mix the mortar
This house was built by a man
I saw 'em tyin' steel
This house was built by man
Out of concrete and water
This house was built by the hand of a man

Somewhere in the dark tonight
A new heart's beatin' fast
Lying still in the arms of love
Tiny fingers grasp
That sweet little baby has heard not a word
About original sin
As fast as you can to the house of man
So Peter can let him on in

This house was built by man
I saw 'em mix the mortar
This house was built by a man
I saw 'em tyin' steel
This house was built by man
Out of concrete and water
This house was built by the hand of a man

Somewhere in the dark tonight
An old heart's fadin' fast
These damn things they were meant to love
They weren't meant to last
But now I'm dyin' but I spent my life tryin'
To do the best I can
I'll only be fine if I spent enough time
Sittin' in the house of man

This house was built by man
I saw 'em mix the mortar
This house was built by a man
I saw 'em tyin' steel
This house was built by man
Out of concrete and water
This house was built by the hand of a man

This house was built by the hand of a man

I'm not in this town to stay said a lady old and grey
I'm just here to get my baby out of jail
Yes warden, I 'm just here to get my baby outa jail

I will pawn you my watch, I will pawn you my chain
I will pawn you my gold diamond ring
Yes warden, I'm just here to get my baby outa jail

When those gates swung wide apart, she held her darlin' to her heart
She kissed her baby boy and then she died
Yes warden, In the arms of her dear boy there she died.

Ouch!

Handing Out Bullets
By ROB HALFORD

Cowards are unholy
Parasites that hide
Detonate the human bomb
Hands are all awash in blood

Carnage from the scriptures
Slaughter of the lamb
Break the neck of the white dove
Run down by the tracks above

Whip the back
Of your messiah
Your peace kills by death

Bow your head
The prayer calls to violence
That history rejects

Waiting wall of murder
Consummating hate
League of perpetuity
Will open wounds of disbelief

Through self immolation
You desecrate the ground
Annihilate the innocents
In crucifixion crashing down

Whip the back
Of your messiah
Your peace kills by death

Bow your head
The prayer calls to violence
That history rejects

Mouths are spitting venom
Shocked senseless by the grief
Another day of dying
As your terror cry abominates

Mushroom cloud is coming
Hanging by the nails
Gasoline the olive branch
Start digging up more body pits

Whip the back
Of your messiah
Your peace kills by death

Bow your head
The prayer calls to violence
That history rejects

Betrayal
By ROB HALFORD

Will you go to heaven
Will you land in hell
Are the things you're praying for
The things that serve you well?

Did you get satisfaction
Have you paid the price
Can you look me in the eye
Say you found paradise?

Betrayal, you are what you choose
Betrayal, got everything to loose
Betrayal, one day you'll know
Betrayal, you reap what you sow

Sell your soul for mercy
Heed the reapers call
Waiting for that heart attack
Your back's against the wall
Stealing from tomorrow
Is no way to live
But when you've got no future
Then there's nothing left to give

Betrayal, you are what you choose
Betrayal, got everything to loose
Betrayal, one day you'll know
Betrayal, you reap what you sow

So when you get to heaven
When you land in hell
Are the things you're praying for
The things that serve you well?

Betrayal, you are what you choose
Betrayal, got everything to loose
Betrayal, one day you'll know
Betrayal, you reap what you sow

Wrath Of Gods
By ROB HALFORD

White swords of blinding razor light
Blast round the earth
Validating with immortal strength
Courage of the brave

From the aftermath of dust and flames
Resilience soars
Upon the searing light's reflected blade
That guards and saves

The dark sky
The victims
The air is full of vengeance

From now on
No mercy
The wrath of Gods
Reigns on you

These monuments of power and steel
Carved in each soul
Stand forever indestructible
For all mankind

The face of mighty nations liberty
In stoic resolve
For all the hated evil that men can do
Will be avenged

The dark sky
The victims
The air is full of vengeance

From now on
No mercy
The wrath of Gods
Reigns on you

It's over
You're wasted
Now you're incinerated

In hell
I'll meet you
And once again
Defeat you

And though the light is dimmed to black someday
Inside it burns
A raging fire to virtues endless war
And freedom's cause

The dark sky
The victims
The air is full of vengeance

From now on
No mercy
The wrath of Gods
Reigns on you

It's over
You're wasted
Now you're incinerated

In hell
I'll meet you
And once again
Defeat you

No worries, especially for you then. I already posted one. Besides - no one has just one favourite :)

Valhalla
Blind Guardian
Follow the Blind [1989]

High in the sky where eagles fly Morgray the dark enters the throne

Open wide the gate friend the king has come
Blow the horn and praise the highest lord
Who'll bring the dawn he's a new god in the palace of steel
Persuade the fate of everyone The chaos can begin let it in

So many centuries, so many gods
We were the prisoners of our own fantasy
But now we are marching against these gods
I'm the wizard, I'll change it all

Valhalla - Deliverance
Why've you ever forgotten me
Why've you ever forgotten me

Magic is in me I'm the last magic man
Never found what I was looking for
Now I found it but it's lost

The fortress burns Broken my heart
I leave this world All gods are gone

So many centuries, so many times
We were the prisoners of our own fantasy
But then we had nothing to lead our lives
No no we didn't play with our time

Valhalla - Deliverance
Why've you ever forgotten me
Why've you ever forgotten me

Stranger Aeons
Entombed
Clandestine [1991]

One more dead soul there's a hole in the sky
illuminating dreamquest the prophet's eye
by virtue of madness a sign of faith
lurking at the threshold you're lost
between the gates

Death's a solution to life's dead illusions

Stranger aeons - stained by re-creation
Stranger aeons - of hallucination

Stranger things that eternal lie
awaiting beyond the time to die
in the city of gods in the temple of lies
initiation progression Zarathustra cries

You were wrong from the start
we will never part

Stranger aeons - stained by re-creation
Stranger aeons - of hallucination
Take strange drugs - swallow your pride
It's all but a game - nuclear stock piles

47 Ginger-Headed Sailors

Now there's a good ship HMS Cock Robin
on a home trip, up and down she's bobbin'
Oh the crew's pretty tough
The sea is so rough
They're all fed up and say that
they've had more than enough
They've got a barber, he's an able seaman
And they call him Red Head Tom
I want to say I'll meet you
With your friends I'll treat you
So who you think I've had a message from?

Forty-seven ginger headed sailors
Coming home across the briny sea
When the anchor's weighed
And the journey's made
Yes they'll start the party
With a "heave-ho me hearty"
Forty seven ginger headed sailors
You can bet you're going to hear them when they hail us
An old maid down in Devon
Said "my idea of heaven
is forty seven ginger headed sailors."

COLD TEA BLUES (Michael Timmins)

If I pour your cup, that is friendship
If I add your milk, that is manners
If I stop there, claiming ignorance of taste,
that is tea

But if I measure the sugar
to satisfy your expectant tongue
then that is love,
But if I measure the sugar
to satisfy your expectant tongue
then that is love,
sitting untouched and growing cold

Should have posted this yesterday.

Of course the lyrics aren't much when you can't hear Margo singing them ...

SUN COMES UP, IT'S TUESDAY MORNING
(Michael Timmins)

Sun comes up, it's Tuesday morning
hits me straight in the eye
guess you forgot to close the blind last night
Oh, that's right, I forgot, it was me

I sure do miss the smell of black coffee in the morning,
the sound of water splashing all over the bathroom,
the kiss that you would give me even though I was sleeping,
but I kind of like the feel of this extra few feet in my bed
Telephone's ringing, but I don't answer it
'cause everybody knows that good news always sleeps till noon

Guess it's tea and toast for breakfast again
maybe I'll add a little T.V. too
No milk! God, how I hate that
Guess I'll go to the corner, get breakfast from Jenny
She's got a black eye this morning, `Jen how'd ya get it?'
she says, `Last night, Bobby got a little bit out of hand'

Lunchtime. I start to dial your number
then I remember so I reach for something to smoke
and anyways I'd rather listen to Coltrane
than go through all that **** again

There's something about an afternoon spent doing nothing
Just listening to records and watching the sun falling
Thinking of things that don't have to add up to something
and this spell won't be broken
by the sound of keys scraping in the lock

Maybe tonight it's a movie
with plenty of room for elbows and knees
a bag of popcorn all to myself,
black and white with a strong female lead
and if I don't like it, no debate, I'll leave

Here comes that feeling that I'd forgotten
how strange these streets feel
when you're alone on them
Each pair of eyes just filled with suggestion
So I lower my head, make a beeline for home
Seething inside

Funny, I'd never noticed
the sound the streetcars make as they pass my window
Which reminds me that I forgot to close the blind again
Yeah, sure I'll admit there are times when I miss you
Especially like now when I need someone to hold me
but there are some things that can never be forgiven
and I just gotta tell you
that I kinda like this extra few feet in my bed

HUNTED (Michael Timmins)

Emma's in a part of town
where she doesn't recognize the streets
named for famous native sons
and out of every crevice comes creeping
a threat in her direction
Lucy's outside her home
heading towards her corner store
she stays on well-travelled paths
and is always making sure
that she doesn't develop patterns

There are trap lines
running up and down Main Street
wire snares thirsting for your neck and feet

Susan doesn't like the way her curtains
are blowing in the wind
She swears she locked that window
before she went out dancing
she stands frozen in her doorway
Judy hears a sound coming from the other room
she knows she should be alone
'cause the kids left at noon
to go visit their father

Quick to your phone dial 911
invite a strange man into your home
who'll be carrying a gun

Leslie's working late
she's got a deadline to meet
In walks her boss,
upon her desk he puts his feet
and says alone at last
Reanne's got a new boyfriend
and they're getting along
until he locks the door and says don't struggle,
I'm stronger than you are.

Just one question I'm dying to ask, you said,
do you know what it's like to be hunted?

Anyway, here's "Mr. Tambourine Man" by Bob Dylan, from the album "Bringing It All Back Home":
...
a great song, particularly when listened to nice and late at night. mm.

Got to love this, especially the full-length version. I grew up listening to the truncated top-40 single that the Byrds made out of it. Then when I was in my early twenties, I went to see Bob Dylan in concert up in Saratoga, and he did the whole thing, plus a few verses that I think he just hatched out of his brain on the spot... had everyone dancing in the aisles. Just as intense as any Grateful Dead jam, if not more so.

Rose Garden
by Stevie Nicks

You never promised me a rose garden,
You never said it would be easy.
You never promised me a leisure lifetime,
You only said you'd never leave me.

I never took the time to realize
How much I needed love in order to survive.
I was so spoiled, a princess in my time,
And your love was so deep and mine so blind.

You never promised me a ring made out of diamond.
A band of gold, you said, was all you could buy.
You never said I'd be a rich man's lady,
And oh my darling, you never lied.

And now you're gone, and I'm alone, and I'm so lonely.
Nothing seems to be the same.
One day I turned around and you no longer loved me,
In my life there's been a big change.

Now I've a big house,
With pillars standing tall all around.
Yes, and I've got a garden,
And it's got roses dangling down to the ground.
Yes, and I've got money,
Men to love me, and acres of land.
Well, I've got all these things,
All these things but a small gold band
On my finger
On my left hand.

My old theme song!

Angel Of Death
[lyrics & Music - Hanneman]
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Auschwitz, the meaning of pain
The why that I want you to die
Slow death, immense decay
Showers that cleanse you of your life

Forced in
Like cattle
You run
Stripped of
Your life's worth
Human mice, for the Angel of Death
Four hundred thousand more to die
Angel of Death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead

Sadistic, surgeon of demise
Sadist of the noblest blood

Destroying, without mercy
To benefit the Aryan race

Surgery, with no anesthesia
Fell the knife pierce you intensely
Inferior, no use to mankind
Strapped down screaming out to die

Angel of Death

Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Infamous butcher,

Angel of Death

Pumped with fluid, inside your brain
Pressure in your skull begins pushing through your eyes
Burning flesh, drips away
Test of heat burns your skin, your mind starts to boil
Frigid cold, cracks your limbs
How long can you last
In this frozen water burial?
Sewn together, joining heads
Just a matter of time

'Til you rip yourselves apart
Millions laid out in their
Crowded tombs
Sickening ways to achieve
The holocaust

Seas of blood, bury life
Smell your death as it burns
Deep inside of you
Abacinate, eyes that bleed

Praying for the end of
Your wide awake nightmare
Wings of pain, reach out for you
His face of death staring down,
Your blood running cold
Injecting cells, dying eyes
Feeding on the screams of
The mutants he's creating

Pathetic harmless victims
Left to die
Rancid Angel of Death
Flying free

[LEADS: HANNEMAN, KING, HANNEMAN, KING, HANNEMAN]

Angel of Death

Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Infamous butcher,

Angel of Death

Hmm. That's pleasant.

As I said before ....

Tom Araya
'..this song has become an epitah for us since we played in Japan..' - a month after the Sarin Gas Attacks in Japan

Chemical Warfare
[Hanneman/King]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tragic minds are terrified
Life as if a grave
Silent death marks high and full
The wings of revelation

Haunting death from chemicals
Errant is as one
Annihilation must be swift
The soil with our destruction

Counts on the throne must be watching from Hell
Waiting no bastion of side
Soldiers defeated by death with the spell
Bodies lie dormant, no life
Rising, betook with the lands where they fell
Demons are ready to die
Laughing to see where the sleeping souls lie

Chemical warfare

I will miss your ****ing peace, lined up in death row
Generals with their slaughtered beasts, diminished from this hell
Banished from the dying world, loath of Hell awaits
Dark, some more helpless pray to immortality

Counts on the throne must be watching from Hell
Waiting no bastion of side
Soldiers defeated with help from the spell
Bodies lie dormant, no life
Rising, these souls, from the lands where they fell
Demons are ready to die
Laughing to see where the sleeping souls lie

Chemical warfare

[F**K it up]

Limbs you take
The torture just as truth entitled fights
Terminate
Humans' amputations due
Men fall
Deadly give the reason to the need
Sacrifice
Still the soul has left the corpse to Hell

[Ahahahaha]

Mummied by regions, lying in dusk, fall victim to this game
Bloodshed my corpse, reigning in lust, taking with all thee of blame
Fall stead thy spirit, farther they fall, soon they will join us in Hell
See the blood burning, the gates are ablaze, Satan is eager to burn

Counts on the throne must be watching from Hell
Waiting no bastion of side
Soldiers defeated with help from the spell
Bodies lie dormant, no life
Rising, these souls, with the lands where they fell
Demons are ready to die
Laughing to see where the sleeping souls lie

Chemical warfare

Where did all the cool Pink Floyd go? ;)

Pigs (three different ones)

Big man, pig man, ha ha, charade you are
You well heeled big wheel, ha ha, charade you are
And when your hand is on your heart
You're nearly a good laugh
Almost a joker
With your head down in the pig bin
Saying "keep on digging"
Pig stain on your fat chin
What do you hope to find?
When you're down in the pig mine
You're nearly a laugh
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry.

Bus stop rat bag, ha ha, charade you are
You ****ed up old hag, ha ha, charade you are
You radiate cold shafts of broken glass
You're nearly a good laugh
Almost worth a quick grin
You like the feel of steel
You're hot stuff with a hat pin
And good fun with a hand gun
You're nearly a laugh
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry.

Hey you Whitehouse, ha ha, charade you are
You house proud town mouse, ha ha, charade you are
You're trying to keep your feelings off the street
You're nearly a real treat
All tight lips and cold feet
And do you feel abused?
...!...!...!
You gotta stem the evil tide
And keep it all on the inside
Mary you're nearly a treat
Mary you're nearly a treat
But you're really a cry.
