We are trying Always war Demigod this time. No special variant.

Settings:
Map: 250x250
AI: All 30 opponents
Civ: Romans
Continents
70% water
No Barbs
Demigod

Standard AW: Must declare war as soon as we have contact with no trades, but we can look at our opponents, their techs, etc.

Roster:
Greebley
I.Larkin
Northern Pike
M60A3TTS
vxma
ThERat
markh

Since ThERat had the sad turn last time, I am going to let him start.

Matt_G will be posting a save checked out as playable (we won't be surrounded and doomed like last time).

Roster:
Greebley
I.Larkin
Northern Pike
M60A3TTS
vxma
ThERat - Up First
markh - On Deck.

Here is the save as promised.

I almost posted one, here goes. The settler is on a bonus grass tile on a river. I think that can be seen, but in case it cannot...

got it....where shall we move the settler to?

It would be inefficient to move the worker when it's on a tile we clearly want to develop right away. So I'd move the settler onto the hill to the NE, which looks like an acceptable site in itself, and will give us a good view of better sites if there are any.

BTW, Greebley, did you notice I. Larkin's request to play in this game? It's your call, but either way he'd probably like a response.

I played 20 turns

Settled as suggested as I think the hill is best to settle even though we had to wait for a while to work the wheat. We now have a rax in our capital and will churn out a settler within a few turns. I explored th south as this is the safest way to avoid too early a contact.

I went for BW full steam and I think we will shave off a few turns in the end. We need to get IW as fast as possible.

IBT : nothing

1) 2950BC : move the warrior further SW : more sea

IBT : a French warrior appears from the North

2) 2900BC : declare war on France
move warrior back home
raise lux to prevent Rome rioting

IBT : the French warrior fortifies, but stands where I planned to settle our second city

3) 2850BC : warrior continues to head home

IBT : settler complete -> warrior

4) 2800BC : move settler S to meet with our homecoming warrior next turn

IBT : nothing

5) 2750BC : just moving the settler and warrior

IBT : nothing

6) 2700BC : warrior and settler reach their final destination to found our second city next turn

IBT : nothing

7) 2650BC : found Veii -> barracks

IBT : warrior finished in Rome -> archer

8) 2630BC : not much

IBT : nothing

9) 2590BC : worker roads to connect Rome and Veii

IBT : nothing

10) 2550BC : not much

BW done in 8. We have to expect the welcoming party from the French in the next couple of turns methinks.

Greebley, if 7 is more than you would prefer, go ahead and drop me. I could pinch hit if you needed some fill in turn later in the game. I am fine with it however it works best for you.

Thaks, will play when my turn come.
Question: Must declare
1) As soon as possible to make contact? Or
2) As Face of AI appeard at F4 screen? Or
3)When Civ name appeared at Shift_D menu?
(It is slightly different, you know)

If see see a unit, we declare. If we see in F4 we declare. We are allowed to back away if we see borders and no units and hence no real contact.
