You make the decision. If you release a mod on the forum, chance is it should be added to the File Database. Is there a selection (good enough / downloaded enough / minimum size / someone approval) or every work I make can be added to the database?
The recommended procedure is first add the file to the file DB, then in your forum thread you can either link to your file entry in the DB, or use the download link provided by the file DB. This way you don't forget to add the file to the database. We want all mods to be in a comprehensive database so people can perform search on all the files. Will the link to the file in the thread (Easy Upload) still work after, or the file will move to a different URL then? Should I remove the link in the thread then?
Sorry for asking this, but why not both? There's surely a reason I didn't understand, but why someone has to go to the thread to the database to get a link to download the file? It is easier if whatever threat or database had a link to the file. I mean: the file has only one URL, but there's a link is in both places.
It also allows more accurate tracking of download counts since everyone downloads your mod via the file DB download link. If you link to your file directly using the link provided by easy upload in forum thread, downloads will not be counted.
Linking to the file entry or file DB download link in forum thread also has another benefit: when you update a mod's download link, you just update the file in the file entry and the file DB download link in the thread would still be valid.
The New Civilizations category is ok.One last question... For a mod like my Leonardo which is neither a real civilization (a Leonardo da Vinci Civ has never really existed) and neither a fantasy concept one (no elf, wizard and this kind of stuff) which one would be the right category? I ask because this is the kind of mod I like to edit.
