Alan, any idea what might be causing this? Also, it looks like all of the irrigation is appearing as a purple fuzz in other areas of the map. This is the start of a new game of the Pacific War scenario, no modifications made to it. I am on an iBook, 1.33 Ghz processor G4, 1.5 Gigs memory (just added the 1 Gig memory chip), running 10.4.11 with all Java updates.

It looks as if there may be corrupt terrain image files in your installed copy of Civ3. I would guess that either Civ III Complete/Civilization 3 Game Data/Art/Terrain/xhills.pcx or Civ III Complete/Conquests Game Data/Art/Terrain/LMHills.pcx is faulty. If irrigation is distorted, then maybe one of the Civ III Complete/Civilization 3 Game Data/Art/Terrain/irrigation XXXX.pcx files is also faulty.

The files look okay in Photoshop, but I will reinstall if necessary after backing up all of my scenarios and work.

I had previously backed up all of the Civ3 Complete data files to one of my external hard drives, so I had back up art folders. I replaced both the Conquest and the Civilization 3 art folders with the back up copies, and that cleared up the problem. I have been opening the Pacific War scenario, and one of my saved games while online, and it is since I have been doing that that the corruption affected the files. Is there any chance that I had an odd interaction between Safari and the game art files?

I can't imagine any way that Safari could affect your Civ3 Complete files. Nothing should attempt to write to those files. Maybe you have a faulty disk drive? Have you run Disk Utility and tried a Verify Disk?

I did have some directory issues, so I am not sure if they caused the problem or just an odd glitch, or I did something to the files when looking at them in Photoshop and did not realize it.
