West Europe should be Orthodox! Italy, particularly the southern portion, was heavily influenced by Constantinople for centuries after Rome fell. The patriarch of Rome had only a weak claim to independence from, or authority over the other patriarchies.

The so called Roman Catholics should never had been allowed to profit from the actions of illegally crowned German Imperators.

Imagine, if those pesky West Roman territories just converted to Orthodoxy, we could just wash away centuries worth of history, and have ourselves a good old fashioned Byzantine revival.
