Guess the Map IV: A Thousand Cries for "Hint Please!"

That's right. It is the number of Big Four (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL) sports franchises per state. The state where they play their home games to be exact. (Washington Red Skins in Maryland, both New York football teams in New Jersey).

oh... I wouldn't have been able to count them up. Might be interesting to do a map with legal ownerhsip per state, if that would makes sense. Anyways, it's 3 in the morning, I'm going to sleep, so it's open floor. Have fun.

[gripes about you not including Canadian Provinces]

I considered including Canada but thought it would have made it too easy. My next hint would have been that I could have included some Canadian provinces and territories.

But are there that many sports maps? I like those so maybe I just do not see it but we had this 100 years war history map, Armenia genocide and Armenian diaspora, cocaine, airplanes, BBC, heads of states, linguistic diversity etc. and now just back to back sports maps.

I remember spending like 3 hours making a map about the highest paid athlete from each country, only to have the map guessed in like 30 seconds.

Can I make the map? I don't want to spend 2 hours making one to find out someone else posted another.

It's been 2 hours!

If someone else posts a map you can always save yours for a later date.

Eh, you're probably right, there actually aren't too many. I guess I only notice when there are, because they're not interesting to me, while just about all the other maps are.

Just made the map below. It's my first attempt at making maps for this thread, and I used a crappy editor.

Hmm... Seems to be at least party linked to the nation's geographic size.
I don't think so. It seems to be an absolute figue but probably linked to population not size.
As long as it's some measury of a rather modern form of consumption or production Australia and Canada can easily fit in.
If it wasn't for Japan and the ROC it could very well be CO2 emissions for example.

Well, if people are allowed to complain about too many US maps, then I'm complaining right now: there are way too many sports maps in this thread. The subject just isn't interesting map after map after map.

There were two maps as have been pointed out, plus they were from different sports and continents... There actually at the moment is quite a good mix of everything, although we didn't have a biology-themed map for a while.

Re map: I guess grey means no data and what is the exact sequence of the various greens? Is it a total number of some subgroup of the population, for example students?

Did you count Western Sahara as part of Morocco or by itself (and it shares the same colour as Morocco).

And... no island nations with a trend towards large countries being darker... my guess is in agriculture. Wheat production? Livestock head count?

if you mean manufactured - Angola? And serving would make the RCAF bigger than the RAF.

No, I'm pretty sure the RAF is larger than the non-existent RCAF :p

India seems a little low for that.
