Guess the Map IX: The Richese are no match

That would mean Bulgaria has a greater number of nursing homes than say, America or something.

And it's something wide-spread, if even Greenland's statics are available (unless Denmark's stats were substituted).

It can't be life expectancy per se given that Russia is in the same league as the rest of the developed world except the USA.

And Russia's life expectancy is a lot lower than the USA's. But I googled it and according to the source I found, 13% of Russia's population is over 65 and 13 or 14% of USA's population is over 65. It's possible for a country to have a large grey population with a relatively low life expectancy. I checked with this source and my guess matches it pretty well, but Russia and China are major problems. But there's definitely some correlation between this and the map.

Retired people, then.

Sorry for neglecting the thread, but this guess is very close.
Errr, % with white hair? % that play bingo? % old enough to watch the O'Reilly factor?

joke guesses

Is it a different age, then? (percentage of people over 70, for instance?)
If it's that, it's probably a lower number like 60. I think if the number were higher, the US would beat Russia due to Russia's lower life expectancy.

So I'm locking in % over 60 if that's not too much like Mulatto's guess.

Edit: Actually, it could be old people (% over 60, etc) in 2050 or something like that which would account for China and Russia being so high.

Alright, it wasn't that close, forget percentages.

I'll speed this up a bit, the numbers are actual ages (but no, it isn't pension ages).

Median age by country - Ireland has a quite young population.

I think that Google Image Search can potentially ruin this entire thread.

I guessed the answer from the hints and googled it to see if I was correct.
The map was the one of the first things returned.

I think that Google Image Search can potentially ruin this entire thread.

It occurred to me a while ago that people can reverse image search some of the maps but I always figured that most people probably aren't willing to cheat on this. Also, Google's often not smart enough. If you do it for this map, it doesn't return anything close to the right answer (I only tried a second ago).

If people accidentally find the map while double checking guesses, I don't see that as a problem at all.

I will sleep on it and post something tomorrow.
