Guess what state this cloeseted gay republican congressman is in

State congressman? Throw him back, wake me up when you catch a senator or a governor. At least a US congressman.

It's news for a washington resident and just more evidence that hypocrisy exists where people hold extreme views.

So there was an extortion with the threat to out this person by the guy...so, of course, let's make the thing public.

Tell me what I'm missing. And why this matters. This state lawmaker is an innocent person in the eyes of the law, it seems. What he does and what he denies doing is his own business.

This case is disgusting and there's no need to vilify this lawmaker for it.

he went the police to try and cover up that he was gay by claiming extortion for sex he paid for. and i will vilify a lawmaker and political party that makes laws to prevent gay people from being treated equally.

A person's private sex life is not your business. Some people prefer to keep their sexual orientation secret because they would rather not be subjected to intense bigotry from people who call their behavior an "abomination."

Your sarcasm detectors need a little bit of work, darlin'!

But that's okay!

IF he choses to come out of the closets is there own private business.

Normally I would agree with this except it is the in-the-closet gay Republican politicians that condemn the gay population. So when these guys are "outed" it shows what vile people they really are. It would basically be like me getting myself a really dark tan and pretending to be Mexican, while at the same time condemning white people.

This is an issue of why these guys can't just be who they are and stop condemning an entire group of people just so they can protect their own image.

it's more like a jew selling out other jews and pretending to be a nazi.

What has this guy done that's "anti-gay"?

He himself may not have done anything anti-gay, but he has chosen to throw his support behind a party that is decidedly anti-gay. If I threw my support behind a communist party, would you not assume that I was a communist?

However, I was really referring to the other outed Republicans who did have a history of anti-gay activity prior to being outed.

It rhymes with moshington. I think it's pretty great how closeted gay republican politicians are just being forced out left and right. Now they can lead more truthful lives.

I think its also awesome how predatory youth pastors are being caught. Sexual predators should have no defenders.

No name? No news story? Wheres the link?

Hmmm. Did this guy indeed have 'extreme views'? And what do you mean by that? And Washington, being quite the liberal state that it is, has more than a few rinos. Hell, I live here and I have never heard of this guy.

voted against domestic partnerships and opposed anti discrimination legislation that protected gays and lesbians.

Ah....I dont think that qualifies him for 'extreme views'. A hypocrite? Sure. But there was a good bit more legislation in those things you refer to here, than just domestic partnerships and anti-discrimination legislation.

Do you have links to the specific bills that he voted against on these issues?

#1: Not all Republicans are anti-gay, and I'd say not even a majority of Republicans believe homosexuality is an abomination yadda yadda. Would you have been so amped up if this fellow was (is?) a Democrat, even if he'd had the same voting record (which it sounds like you looked at after posting your OP)?

#2: Equating outing a gay person (even if they were 100% hypocritical and by any standard seemed to deserve the bad karma, which this case doesn't seem to be) doesn't warrant a pathetic and transparent attempt to link them to child molesters.

#3: I agree with you that this fellow is a slug for indulging in high-risk unprotected sex that puts his wife in danger (to say nothing of violating his marriage vows).

Especially when these people are the ones who vote for him.

Why is this so awesome? The dude's gay. So what? I thought people being gay stopped being a big deal in american culture like, about 10 years ago.

I think the host of that show gets off covering the subject of pedophilia. There is something about the show itself that is deeply disturbing. Even worse, I don't think it discourages online predators. It might even encourage them.

The Dateline show is skeezy in its own way. Sleazy too.

A politician's hypocrisy is my business though. If he votes one way and lives another, it is my right to know. Want to stay in the closet? Stay out of public office.

This guy wasnt trying very hard to stay out of that closet to be honest.
