I guess we'll have to see where the placement of the stones will be. There is not much 'central' land for the Scots, and I would guess the Frisians are fairly accessable as well.
Morten Blaabjerg said:Nope, when a king dies, the events will try and create a 'sword of coronation' (which is a barbarian non-moving unit) at the first of the three spots, and if this space is occupied, it will try the next location. If the second and third spots are all occupied (by cities or non-barbarian units), no 'coronation sword' unit will be created, and the opportunity to gain a new king lost for good.
When the sword is 'taken' i.e. the unit destroyed, a new king will be crowned, and no 'coronation sword' be necessary, until that king dies. But losing a king means considerable risk, since gaining a new one is by no means something to be counted on. Especially since 'drawing the sword' will require at least one unit of some significance (i.e. a chief, thegn, hero or knight, for instance). Other units will still have a chance, especially if one can line up a line of 'expendable' potential 'takers' (i.e. take successive hits on the unit in the same turn) - but most will fail.

Did you do it yourself?
Yes - any other unit than a barbarian on the spots will prevent the events from creating the unit. Preferably one will want to keep the king for as long as possible. Rarely will it be necessary to protect the spots for the stones - even an invader (at least when played by a human) will be interested in the opportunity to 'draw the sword'... - but the 'swords' will need protection, if they cannot immediately be 'taken'...Duke of Marlbrough said:So players will have to protect their 'sword' spot, but can't occupy the square, or is it only if it's occupied by other player?
