Hammer of the North v2 PBEM

Danish offer examined....and accepted. However, Danish forces must complete their evacuation from their raid on East Anglia on their next move, or we are back at war.

Chainmail discovered. Certain gifts made to the Scots and Franks in-game (no need for CivDip). ;)

King Alfred and his household companions kill a Norse Viking Chief in a sharp skirmish on the Wessex-Cornish border. [95% veteran King beats Viking Chief on Grassland, and is reduced to 85%]. The King returns to his Hall.

Should the Germans be interested in Anglo-Saxon techs, they need only offer us something in return...

The Franks respectfully request the Norse Chief to move from the Abbey near Le Mans. The monks are very much upset in the area, and this years revenue has been lost due to the disturbance of the Norse movements. We have forces ready to deal with the barbarian forces approaching from Brittany, so these need be no concern to the Norse settlement at Bayeux.

Liturgical Chant has now been shared with our close allies.

After discussing the matter with our allies, the Franks accept the Danish offer of a cease fire. The Franks suggest king Sven to use this opportunity to reconsider his pagan beliefs and finally embrace christian baptism, which will welcome the Danes into the prosperous christian flock.

I will post the latest update (which will be v2.7) as soon as possible. Got the kings and coronation concept working fine - I want to add a couple of other finishing details before I post it :)

We can probably do this with respect to the kings and coronation concept, but I also made several changes to the rules and scn-file, including changing a number of prerequisites and adding new technologies for all the christian powers, so that the tech base is a little larger. Basically these aim to reduce the chance for the AI viking player to accept christianity prematurely, making a number of mostly useless pre-christian techs more desireable to the AI. There are minor changes to the map as well, and the Norse and Danes start the game at war with each other, making the rivalry for the North more significant. Previously the Danes and Norse would often (if not always) conclude an alliance on turn 1, this has been made impossible by a Norse Vendetta vs the Danes.

Can you explain to me, how to perform the delevent operation, in case we want to play with the new events as a minimum?

King Otto thanks you for your kind offer and... in that very same spirit... declines said generosity at this time, being content with producing "Our" own technologies.

To all: I'm leaving town tomorrow morning, and will be gone all weekend.

~Otto

The Scottish King realized that all their cities production is going towards military production while his people lack basic necessities. Plans are put into motion to rectify this. If the Norse are still willing to honor their original Cease-Fire offer, the Scottish King is willing to honor it as well. The need of his people is greater than the need of his ego.

Norse News:

Olav accepts the Scottish offer and learn a bit from their logic too.

Attacks made against rogue tripes in Lödöse and Skara. Both settlements have now pledged loyalty to Olav.

Anglo-Saxon knarr sunk of Exeter.

Other Events from around the World:

Anglo-Saxon Monks offer their service.
Monks arrive in England to chronicle recent events.
Danish vikings raid Normandy.

Danes
Peace reigns in the Danish kingdom. The only conflict is in Frisland, where the king of Dorestad continues to march his armies into a certain death. The Danish Chief in Normandie will be removed as soon as I can get a ship there (it's already on its way).
New laws by king Sven states that christians in Danish Frisland is not to be harmed or converted.

Continues with his benevolent rule, promoting peace and prosperity to all within his realm. The good people of Daugmale, seeing the wise and just rule of King Otto, have petitioned his Majesty to accept the crown of their good city. Citing continued barbaric raids against their good city from Eastern Hordes, and nervous about unknown and incredibly fierce warriors recently patroling their fishing grounds, the city offers unswerving loalty to good King Otto. Otto accepts the city into his realm, under the condition that the citizenry accepts and embraces the one true God. That hurdle eagerly embraced by the occupants, the city is accepted by the German crown.

No hurry :) - I am still tweaking things to improve the scenario further. I have tampered A LOT with new graphics for the tiles.dll. Also included new unit grapx for a couple of units, adding a powerful barbarian warlord to the game, making it more interesting to convert barbarian cities and units ;) - and I (hopefully) fixed a couple of things in the events.txt that wasn't working properly.

Still haven't got around to researching DelEvent. Sorry. I will play my turn tonight. (the email notification is not working again...sheer chance I checked this thread today at work...)

I was going to drop you an e-mail last night but I never got around to it.
