Handy 19 Grumpy Old Men try AWD standard map

All of them were totally corrupt. And i recaptured them the next turn. We only lost a few beakers from one city that was razed.

Pre-flight – 1300 – First I change the preferences so I can see what is going on during the IBT. In an AW game it is a little important. Hurry a galleon on the west coast. I think we can set up a safe transit using the Babylonian island. MM most of our cities. Our workers are not ganged. Often working all alone.

IBT – A lot of bombardment, but no landings. Start a palace in Elvis as a pre-build for ToE.

1305 – Land next to Khorabad

IBT – No attacks on our landing force. English build Shakespeare’s.

1310 - @ Khorabad – We kill six defenders and…

I decide to keep the city for a turn until I can get a settler over.
Found Scoutville and New Kente.

IBT – The English drop off three cavs and a settler. A galleon survives a Bab frigate attack.

1315 – Abandon Khorabad and establish Babylonian Beachhead. Found New Kiohero. Move more units to the beachhead. Upgrade a few units. Three elite victories on the English, but no batons.

IBT – Retreat a Bab cav at the Beachhead.

1320 – Start marching across the Bab Island. Found New Owego.

1325 – Found New Neodakheat and New Oiogouen. Start assaulting Carchemish. Kill five defenders lose a cav and retreat two. Thee are stil at least three defenders.

IBT – On Bab Island – Kill a rifle and lose a cav.
Medicine=>Sci Meth

1330 – Found New Skannayutenate. There are at least four more defenders in Carchemish, only get three. Sci Meth is due in six after MM.

IBT – A Bab cav is dropped off next to Beachhead.

1335 – Finally get down to the final defenders at Carchemish and…

IBT – Babs drop off a contingent on the mainland.

1340 – Found Western Gateway on the western end of Bab Island. Repeal the invasion. Start setting up for the last Bab city on Bab Island.

IBT – Babs drop off more lader opportunities.

1345 – Attacking Izibia we have this happy occasion…

1350 – Start setting up for a few more invasions.

After Action – First, let’s see if we can do this again. My apologies to whomever follows me, but we messed up the last invasion of Nimrud, I thought I would spell it out this time.

There are a few units loaded already, including a settler at Onnontare. You probably want to load a few more units into the invasion force. You can land next to Nimrud. Make sure you either abandon or raze the city. We don’t want to keep any more Babylonian cities. The flip risk is too high.

Here is the initial plan for an invasion of the other continent.

The fleet SE of Western Gateway can load up and sail SW to the other land. Make sure you take the army with you.

lurker's comment: That is a lot of Iroquois cities. How close are you to domination?
 
No one will be close to 50% of Babylon's culture, so that is the only real threat at the moment. Elvis should have ToE in 14.

Took a peek @ the map, :hmm: Gulfport might turn out to be a better launch pad than Western Gatway for the invasion. I will pillage/explore and try to find the best way across during my 10. It is amazing we only have 4 armies at this point in the game.

Research: We need RP, commie, industrialization. Any thoughts on the order?
 
I don't think that culture is such a big problem, they will propably mobilize and their cpt will be halved when we drop some units on their continent abd begin razing and pillaging.

That's easy, as Sci method is due in 2. Industrialization and Commie come in @ 6 turns each. Do it in that order, go Big Picture when Commie comes in and switch to Atomic Theory for ToE. Take that plus Electronics. Then we can figure out whether to revolt or move on to RP.

And we'll need a Hoover prebuild.
 
I think quite a few of our armies were killed in our flawed efforts overseas.

I would go for RP first, take Atomic Theory and electronics for ToE, then go up to flight. Do we really want to be communists? We have set up our land for science farms.

I am only afraid of the moment, the AI hits flight and we got no defense. We need an army overseas faster and pillage oil.

Pre Turn – Decide to scroll thru all the cities. Hire a few more scientists.

Load the boats and head for the main continent.
Upgrade some trebs
Kill 2 English Cav
Sending 4 galleons of troops to the main island.
While we pillage and explore the main continent I’m going to begin to clean out and re settle a couple of the Babylonian islands.

English keep landing at Rockaway beach, so that may be short sea crossing.
Redline 3 English cav who them proceed to kill our elite Knight and elite MI. :mad:
Kill the English.
Kill 3 Babylonian cav.
Lots of ocean between the city of Western-Gateway and the other continent.

Turn 3 1365
Cannon & cavalry raze the island city of Nimrud with no losses
We reach what I think is the other continent. I’m going to keep the boats nearby in case this is just an English island.

Babylon has finished Universal Suffrage

Turn 4 1370
The army gets dropped off and begins to pillage, the remaining units stay on the boats and will circle to the south looking for a shorter crossing. They would just slow down the pillage/exploration at this point. If I land them they will get attacked & die. The army needs a 4th cav, but I wanted to be 100% sure this is not an island before I added a 4th cav.

England lands 4 cav N of Fish-Fowl
England lands 2 Cav with rifles @ Ai Bait on the big island
England starts TOE

Turn 5 1375
Still see muskets in Carthage’s cities.
We kill all the invaders and pillage some.

Turn 6 1380
Get two promotions @ AI Bait on the island
Begin moving ships over to Gulfport, which looks like a shortest route to England.
Bomb a cav with cannon to redline, leader fish with an elite Pike and get this. :D

Raze Hindana on a small island.
Hire some engineers to build courts (in case we go commie) & ducts.

Couple of elite wins, pillaging and railroading.
Industrialization in 4 and TOE in 5.

Kill Ai @ AI Bait

We lost 2 boats that were fortified. One was empty and one had troops in it.

Turn 10 1400
Raze the Babylonian island city of Warwick. Despite facing redlined infantry, we lost 3 cavalry in the assault.

Notes:
Tonawanda needs another forest in the ice to get to 20 spt.
Research – I got RP and we get Industrialization in 2 and TOE is due in 3. I think we take AT & Electronics. We can research Commie pretty fast (if we want to), revolt, then build factories in the core. The bad thing about commie is no cash rushes, I think we can win without it if we choose to.

The Cav army in Babylon needs a 4th cav.

Keep pillaging Babylon, that will do more damage to them than attacking with the cav army at this point. The boats can bring over the 2nd cav army with cannon, cav and infantry support to begin razing Babylon.

Let's get their rubber & lux sites off line. :goodjob:
 
I have this crazy idea. Why don't we get corporation and refining as free techs so we can locate the oil. This is crucial so that the AI can't get bombers, which is the only unit to prevent us from winning.

I think Hoover is not that important now. We will not have that many factories first. So what do you all think?

I would also like to stay in monarchy for cash rush (galleons and transports) and science milk the corrupt towns.

Any opinions?
