Ah yes, let the eagle soar.

I'm not an adult yet, but here's what I have wanted to be over the years, from earliest to right now:

Astronaut
Chemist
Geologist
Architect
Economist

I think I've finally settled on the last one, although I'm not sure whether I wanna go the government route, the academic route, or the business route.... The first would probably be the most interesting if I could make it big; there's nothing quite like having the power to send your country into a recession whenever you're feeling grumpy.

I always wanted to be a racecar driver and I am on the weekends. Granted I'm not a high paid driver, okay I realy lose money, but every sat. I live my dream job as a racer.

First I wanted to be some sort of scientist. Then I wanted to be a paleontologist. Now I'm near neither and not really interesting in being either as an occupation.

Imagined myself at 17 to be lightly trading stocks, in the best high school in ny, with a cute girlfriend, and a nice job.

I'm 17 trading lightly in stock (although losing money:blush: ), in the 2nd best high school (not smart enough for the best:blush: ), with no girl I am currently seeing (last one turned out to be kinda freaky, I think shes more sexually active with other girls than me), and I have a crappy non paid (aside from the occasion lunch) internship.

Not where I really want to be, but the imperfections keeps me focused on my goals.

There is a best and second best high school in New York now?

How many people here have kept a long-running dream and turned it into reality?

No; planned on being an astronaut after a time as a fighter pilot. Vision dropping around the time I was 13 killed that. After that I figured I do some kind of scientific work, maybe still go into NASA. Never once thought I'd join the Army, yet here I still am. Funny that!

I always wanted to be a Pirate. My dreams were shattered when my second grade teacher informed me that it wasn't a valid profession. I still harbour a secret desire to rule the waves seeking booty and dispatching my enemies with cold steel though.

I always hang out with the bad boys but good girls. :D

The other way around is much more fun... ;) :D

Well, i'm still in school, so i'm really a kid.

But I either want to do something in science or food production.

I wanted to become a soldier. And that's what I'll be in 9 days. Of course I would like to skip the whole private thingy, and move directly up to General...

I used to want to become an astronomer.

You can always give it a go on an amateur basis--Stardust@home et al. allow for arm-chair astronomy...

For me, I ended up where I wanted to (well, wanted to be a trial lawyer, not a corporate lawyer, but in the same ballpark anyway), but have realized that the journey is a lot more important than the destination. So to any perpetual student out there, I salute you.

I always wanted to be the Captain of an aircraft carrier when I was a kid. As it turned out, I just so happened to wind up working in an air control tower in the military, technically speaking in the 'Department of the Navy'. Close enough, I say.

I also wanted to be a pilot. As for that, well, I'm still young. I'll make a good living via other means, and then fly for pleasure in my private life, when it becomes economically practical. Should I happen to make it big, financially, then I'll buy my own personal F-16 and THEN, yes, then, I'll have done everything I wanted as kid.
