Hawk03-5CC Persian Astronauts

We just signed a peace deal, but there will be a steal attempt soon, they have Satellites and thats a tech we need. Should the steal fail, they will DoW us. Then we should ally Egypt against them, Egypt did very well against the Mongols and should be against the Aztecs. One thing in our favor, the Aztecs apparently have no Coal, so no rails.

Finished. I've only played 5 turns, due to lack of time.

I have successfully stolen Satellites. ICBM's, anyone? :nuke:

Anyway...

Pre-Turn (1940 AD):
-I switch research to Superconductor.

IBT:
-The Egyptian Settler pair hasn’t settled yet.
-Greece Bombs a bit, then foolishly suicides an MI against one of our MA. (1-0)
-Persepolis: MA->Offshore Platform
-Antioch: MA->Offshore Platform

Turn 1 (1942 AD):
-Kill 2 Greek MA’s. (3-0)
-Bombard Leeds. I take 3 HPs off of defending MI’s, kill 2 citizens, and destroy the Library and University.
-Kill an Infantry and take out a Radar Tower to the North of the city. (4-0)
-Kill the 2 MI’s defending the city and burn it, and take out 3 Bombers. (6-0)
-Kill an MI and destroy a Radar Tower. (7-0)
-Bomb with Bombers, and lose 3 to Jet Fighters, but take out a Radar Tower, and sources of Rubber, Saltpeter, and Uranium.

IBT:
-Egypt builds Tanis on top of the Spices in the north, disrupting our railroads. I’ll let it exist for now, but soon, it’s gonna have to die.
-Get bombed by Greece, old news.

Turn 2 (1944 AD):
-Kill a Greek MA. (8-0)
-Create a Saltpeter colony to get an instant railroad where one is desperately needed.

IBT:

-Well, that’s good news! Guess we don’t have to coax them into declaring war on each other, they did it by themselves.
-Greece Bombs again, and they suicide a Cav against one of our MA. (9-0)

Turn 3 (1946 AD):
-Bomb London. I do little damage, just destroying the Library and Uni and killing 4 citizens. I also lose a Bomber to a JF.
-Kill an MI and destroy a Radar Tower to the north of the city, losing an MA in the process. (10-1)
-Kill the 4 MI guarding London, losing two MA in the process, and the city burns, taking 3 Bombers, 2 Jet Fighters, and the Great Lighthouse with it. (14-3)
-Kill 2 MA, a Cav, 2 MI, and an Infantry, and capture a settler. (20-3)

IBT:
-Greece and Mongolia sign a peace treaty.
-Greece bombards a lot of our units on the west coast with a crapload of battleships.
-Persepolis: Offshore Platform->Apollo Program (subject to change)

Turn 4 (1948 AD):
-Kill a Greek Infantry. (21-3)
-Lose 2 Bombers and a Jet Fighter when bombing, and have unbelievably bad luck.

IBT:
-Susa: Offshore Platform->MA
-Arbela: Offshore Platform->MA
-Antioch: Offshore Platform->MA
-The Aztecs build a second space ship part.

Turn 5 (1950 AD):
-Pull all units away from the area Greece can hit with Battleships.
-In the air, 2 of my bombers are shot down, but so is one of their Jet Fighters.
-Successfully Steal Satellites from the Aztecs.
-MapStat has revealed that WW has hit again, and our citizens are ever more unhappy. I leave it to the next player to deal with this.

Spoiler :

Okay, we need War with Aztecs, and maybe also Egypt. We could MA with Egypt against them and see if they'll give us anything, or we could just goad the Aztecs into declaring War.

As to the War with Greece, we might want to end that now to end the WW, we aren't gaining much from this war anymore.

We need Superconductor, Nuclear Power, and the Laser to build our space ship and win. Egypt has Nuclear Power, which they refuse to trade. Perhaps an MA might make them more convinced...

As to the Aztecs, we must stop their SS before they build it. Perhaps having a couple of Nukes in reserve would be a good idea... :mischief:

Great luck getting Satellites. For our next steal....Nuclear Power. The Greek war can end for now and we can get things heated up on the other continent. An ICBM or 2 might be nice, though I'd expect retaliation if we used them. Desperation only. They also make excellent prebuilds for SS parts.

I don't think we need to get things heated up on the other continent, the Aztecs are already at war with Egypt. We could get Mongols vs. The Aztecs, but the Mongols are pathetic right now, they'd just make the Aztecs more powerful.

We could always convince Greece to declare war on the Aztecs...

I'm up now, eh? I'll get to this on Thursday or (more likely) Friday night.

I'd like to burn one or two of Greece's core cities, but it might be more productive to simply pillage all the rails north of our border and deal with resettlement later. If we're going to coax Greece into the Aztec war, we'll want to leave them stronger than if we simply want to neuter them to keep 'em out of our backyard.

For that matter, should we put together another overseas expedition to burn the Aztec capital?

@Tusker: Perhaps we should find out where their Apollo Program is, and burn that city instead.

Pre-turn

Sigh. Egypt has Wines they'd be willing to trade us -- why didn't we trade for 'em ages ago?
I make the trade: Wines and 20gpt for Ivory.
Lux slider to 40%. Wow, the WW is worse than I thought.
MM cities
Move some troops into position. I'm going to burn another Greek city before making peace.

Turn 4 (1954 AD):

Kill two Greek cavs that are still visible.
Replant some colonies. Ouch :(

IT:

Lose another Battleship and a Destroyer to Greek subs.
Persepolis: Cruise Missile->Bomber
Pasargadae: ICBM->Bomber
Arbela: Cruise Missile->Bomber
Antioch: Missile->MI

Turn 10 (1960 AD):

Move troops. There's a stack of MAs on the mountain south of Sparta; it's up to the next player whether we spread 'em out and pillage before making peace (Greece will pay all they have, aside from towns, for peace) or whether we charge in at Sparta and try to raze the city. We have 14 MAs, and I lost 7 MAs in an assault on a much smaller city halfway through the turnset.
We do have one ICBM available, too...
We should also spend some time rebuilding our air force.

Let's burn Athens and Sparta, and then they'll be truly crushed.

We seem to have the problem of the Aztecs. Perhaps an ICBM or two would be useful here...

...Although, they have a couple themselves. So let's only use them if we have to.

Well, we really should have made peace before I started going after Sparta. I'm not sure we quite have enough force to take the city. We definitely don't have the force to crush Athens -- not unless we spend another 20-30 turns building units without taking losses.

We'd be better off attacking Sparta, doing a bunch of pillaging, and making peace. Sure, they'll settle new cities, but the new ones'll be easy to pick off if they get too close to our lux colonies.

As for the Aztecs, on the bright side - they don't have Nuclear Power yet, either. We might even actually want to hold off on stealing it from Egypt until the Aztecs have it - once we have it, Egypt won't value it as a monopoly tech.

We should finish researching Superconductor first, then buy/trade/steal Nuclear Power and go 100% science on the Laser. At the same time, we make peace with everyone and start building space ship parts, with prebuilds for the ones unlocked by the Laser. After all, if we can manage to be the first ones to the tech, we'll be the first ones to build the parts!

I have played. I went ahead and stole Nuclear Power, everyone else already had it. Am 8 turns from Superconductor on max. We are at peace with all. I managed to burn Sparta and turned Athens back to the stone age. I also got nuclear power plants built in Pasargadae and Persepolis, their production level is awesome. We have 3 SS parts built, 2 more finish in 1 turn andd 1 more in 2. We can possibly get this launched in the next 2 turnsets. I'd say while we wait, build ICbMs, they make great pre-builds. If we have to bomb the Aztec capital with a nuke or 4, we'll need some ground troops to capture it. I'd say send the MI army and a few MAs and park them offshore to land if they get the techs to launch before we do. My turn-log:

Spoiler :

Pre-flight: CivAssist 2, Word running. Get the save loaded. Look things over.
Get a couple SS parts started in Persepolis and Arbela, we need to get the thing started, we can build 70% of it now. Send Artillery toward Sparta, I’m not going for that city without it.

The save:

Alright, I've got it. I'll get as many units as I can headed towards the Aztecs for an invasion.

Just make sure to keep our neutral zone intact as long as possible. If Egypt or anyone else sees an opening, they will gladly land settlers on our resources. I'm hoping we can be first to launch without any more wars. If we nuke, we will face immediate retaliation from everyone, since our relations with everyone is strained at best. Thats why we need ICM builds in every city, so that we have the shields to instant build the last part, even if every city gets nuked. Even though peace is boring, should things go sour, it could get really exciting, really fast.

this loks like the only game where it may get to a world so destroyed by nukes you want to get away.

Hopefully we can navigate the correct path to victory, even if it is leaving a smoking, polluted ruin of a planet. We are close, probably 15-30 turns, depending on how long the Laser takes to research. Hopefully we can research it in a reasonable time, seeing as how researching at max will eat our stash of cash.

I'm done. Sorry it took so long, blame homework.

Now, for the good news, we have Superconductor and Laser's going to be in in 11 turns. So, we're about 12-13 turns from victory.

The Bad news: Egypt, Greece, and the Aztecs all have Satellites, and the Aztecs have Superconductor. Currently, the Aztecs are the only one with nukes, but Egypt and Greece could easily build nukes (Egypt has Uranium now). Also, the Aztecs are the only ones with 6 space ship parts, but the Greeks have one and are building 6 more, and Egypt could start theirs at any time.

Pre-Turn (1970 AD):
-I happily notice the Greeks are in Anarchy. I also un-happily notice they have Satellites, are building 6 SS parts, and already have 1 built.

IBT:
-Pasargadae: SS Exterior Casing->MA
-Arbela: MA->MA
-Antioch: SS Cockpit->Nuclear Plant

Turn 1 (1971 AD):

IBT:
-Persepolis: SS Thrusters->SS Stasis Chamber
-Pasargadae: MA->MA
-Susa: MA->ICBM

Turn 2 (1972 AD):

IBT:
-Pollution strikes Persepolis.
-Pasargadae: MA->MA

Turn 3 (1973 AD):
-Clear the Pollution.

IBT:
-Pasargadae: MA->MA
-Arbela: MA->ICBM

Turn 4 (1974 AD):
:coffee:

IBT:
-Persepolis: SS Stasis Chamber->Mass Transit System
-Pasargadae: MA->ICBM
-Antioch: Nuclear Plant->ICBM

Turn 5 (1975 AD):
-Sci down to 90, Superconductor still in 3.
-Bad News: Egypt now has Satellites. Luckily, they don’t have a single source of Uranium anywhere in their massive empire. :lol:

IBT:
-Pollution strikes Arbela.

Turn 6 (1976 AD):
-I clear it.

IBT:
-Greece builds Tegea in their territory just by the neutral zone. Luckily, it doesn’t push their border forward. :lol:
-Persepolis: Mass Transit System->MA

Turn 7 (1977 AD):
-Nothing happened.

IBT:
-Superconductor has been researched. I set sci to Laser at 70% (The highest we can manage without a deficit). We’ll get it in 13 turns.

Turn 8 (1978 AD):
-Uh-oh, the Aztecs have Superconductor too! I’m now concerned. Let’s just hope Egypt keeps them from building their space ship before we build ours.

IBT:
-Egypt captures Karakorum, giving them the source of Uranium they’re missing. Not good. Luckily, it’s not connected at the moment.
-I forgot to switch the cities to SS parts last turn :wallbash:
-Persepolis: MA->SS Fuel Cells
-Pasargadae: ICBM->SS Life Support

Turn 9 (1979 AD):
-Clear pollution near Pasargadae.

IBT:
-Susa: ICBM->MA
-Greece builds Syracuse, pushing our border back.
-Egypt now has connected their Uranium.

Turn 10 (1980 AD):
zzz.

Here's our land:
Spoiler :

Here's the neutral zone. If you find any unneeded troops, feel free to pull them back.

Spoiler :

Here are the Mongols' two remaining cities. Egypt is likely to take them both soon, although Batshireet might remain a while due to the AI's idiocy when it comes to Marines.

Spoiler :

-The Aztecs: What to do about them? They might not be able to stop us, but it never hurts to be safe. Luckily, they haven't started any of the 3 other SS parts they can build (Thank You, Egypt), but that doesn't mean they won't do so in the next 15 turns. Now, the original plan was to go invade/nuke Tenochtitlan, but I have a better idea. Take a look at the city of Tlaxcala:

Right next to it are the Aztecs' only sources of both Aluminum and Uranium. So, if we have to nuke them, this city would probably be the better one to nuke, as it would render them unable to build any of the SS Parts they haven't built yet. But, we don't have to even do that so long as they don't research the Laser or start building the remaining SS Parts.

Erm... Hello? Anyone there? :p

Elephantium is up. If all goes well in his turn-set, I'll get to launch early in my turn-set..

Huh. I can't seem to find the save. Guess I won't be playing tonight, after all.

And since I'll be out of town for Thanksgiving, I'm on skip until December 1. Guess you'll get it next, Overseer :)
