HBO: A Game of Thrones (ASOIAF)

Hollywood Homely would be awful for Brienne. Being ugly defines her whole character. She needs to be ugly!

ser barristan fans might be interested to know that he has a big part in a dance with dragons. In fact (drum roll, please), he becomes a viewpoint character.

-grrm

That whore was pretty hawt. You can tell she must have work out for that body. And the mouth on her - my kind of a woman.

Will we be seeing more of her?

The character didn't appear in the AGOT book, at least. It could be, however (ASOS spoiler) ...
Spoiler :
That she's the whore Theon takes to his chambers in Winterfell.

On the POV reveal: it's a pity that the "mystery POV" isn't Missandei :(

Man, you shouldn't even mention things like this in spoilers when the question is just about an irrelevant whore.
All you should have said is "Maybe that's the whore Theon takes in book 3" and leave it at that.
What's next ? "Jaime Lannister sends his regards." ?

I read the first 2, maybe 3 books maybe a year or two ago. Best thing I've read period until I read Ender's Game.

HBO better no disappoint.

Well, I assumed spoilers are for people who already read the books, but you're right, it comes a bit out of nowhere. It's changed now.

Quick question, I missed when or if Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish had his real name spoken.

Is "Petyr" simply and alternate spelling of the name "Peter?"

Yeah, Martin's rather fond of alternate spellings of names and titles (for example, it's not "Sir", but "Ser", with the same pronounciation).

Opinions are divided on it. Personally I think it helps to create the "familiar yet different" feel of Westeros which has many parallels to medieval Europe but still is its own world.

Unofurtunately that can't be transferred to the screen ...

This was one of the best episodes yet, made me almost feel sorry for Viserys. The barbarisation of Daenerys is well done (no pun intended).
The fight with Bronn at Tyrion's trial was almost perfect, and I like the scenes with Theon Greyjoy. It will take a while until he's really relevant to the story, but it's good they are finally establishing him as a semi-important character.
Also nice dynamic between Robert and Renly during the hunt.

I very much liked this latest one.

The guy playing Tyrion is doing a fantastic job, I think. I loved Tyrion's confession at the Eyrie, and the trial by combat was done well.

I think maybe they're being a bit heavy handed with Theon, but it'll certainly make his future actions understandable.

The ending was pretty good, the gold crown really took me by surprise.

I thought the imp getting out of prison was a little anti-climactic.

But agreed. The episode was in my top 3 so far ( I can't really decide the order at the moment tho )

That's an advantage of not having read the books. I knew the crown was coming. It plays out differently in the book some. Again, the television series is having pare certain things down and with the tv version, we lost the grandeur of what was going on in Vaes Dothrak. The book rendition took a lot longer. Here the tv rather unrealistically melted that gold pretty damn fast, and you would need a much larger and hotter fire than a cooking fire to melt gold.

But I'm looking forward to the next episode on Sunday. This series has been very good and I might be one of the first ones in line to buy the DVD set when it's released.

I was laughing tears by the time he confessed about milking his eel, flogging the one-eyed snaked, skinning his sausage and making the bald man cry into a pot of turtle stew

What have we learn today? Fire can't kill a dragon, fo sho. The whore is absolutely charming. Hope to see more of ... her, in King's Landings. :p And my favorite dwarf did provide the comic relief. Funny stuff.
