History Quiz III (with rules)

Is it anything to do with that game called Schwarzenburg?

I don't even know if it is made up or not, but the game of that name has a scenario like you suggest. I hope I'm barking up the right tree.

The only thing that I can think of is that it might be a concentration camp like Auschwitz or something

Weren't the Allies worried about a massing of German resources in southern Germany and northern Austria, something the Nazis called the 'National Redoubt'? They claimed that bomb-proof factories were producing weapons and missiles for a replacement army to make a last stand in the highlands of the German-Austrian border.

From what I've read, it was propaganda that had no truth whatsoever, but unsettled the Allied forces for a while, preventing them from occupying the area before the capitulation was signed in early May '45.

Might not be THE big reason the area remained untaken, but I know it was a concern of theirs at the time.

Was it because Brandenburg was part of the kingdom of Germany/HRE?

EDIT: i.e. Because, the elector was a vassal of the King of Germany for his lands inside the Empire. He could be a king, but not because of his German lands (these already formed part of the German kingdom). Also, there were only 2 kings in the HRE, the King of Germany and the king of Bohemia, so the Emperor didn't want to have another one, esp. not from his own kingdom, even if he exercised virtually no real control there!

Probably calgacus answer is right as well, but I think the main reason was because Prussia was officially still a vassal of Poland,so he couldn't become King of Prussia, only in Prussia (the coronation already was not in Berlin, but in Koenigsberg,it would have been unacceptable for the Polish to call it King of Prussia)

How about an answer to the last question Scmiddi, what was the region?

To revive this quiz (unless Dralix is wielding his powers, in which
case it's an excercise in futility... :D)

The Prussian king made an appointment in 1861 that was very
important. What was it?

I was thinking of Bismark's appointment as Chancellor (would have sworn it was 1861...). Anyway, your turn, pawpaw.

total blank-- so--who said theres a marshall's baton in every mans napsack?

Whoops, I totally misphrased my question ! I was in fact looking for the first foreigner to salute the American flag and thus provide recognition to the newly founded nation. But that's indeed in no way clear from my question  Also, you could very well be correct - I have no idea !

Be that as it may though, having asked the previous question, you aren't allowed to answer this question anyway as per the rules of the quiz ;)
