uh? i tought there was only one russo-japanese war in the 20th century.

-russo-japanese war 1904-1905

and i guess the other posible thing would be when japan was an enemy of the WW2 allies, which ofcourse included the USSR.

To clarify, I mean all armed conflicts between Japan and Russia - though if no-one else has gotten them by tomorrow I'll give the question to stalin006.

And pawpaw's right - I'm looking for 4 of them in all ;).

Actually, I can think of 5...

1. Russo-Japanese war of 1904-05
2. Japanese intervention in Russian Civil War 1919-1922.
3. Outer Mongolia skirmish 1937 (38?)
4. Kalkhin-Gol (1939).
5. Soviet Manchurian campaign August 1945.

true, i was counting #3 and #4 as one conflict, since it was unoffical there was no start or stop date, but could be concidered seperate

I counted 3 & 4 as separate because I *think* there was some sort of diplomatic agreement/settlement after the first one, but I could be wrong...

I was unaware of an earlier settlement in Mongolia too so I counted the whole conflict as one - but it's quite possible my knowledge was lacking there ;).

Either way, good job serutan :). She's all yours.

Who was the shipwrecked Englishman that became a vassal of Tokogawa Ieyasu around the time the latter was uniting Japan?
