Do any of you have passions?
(outside of Civ, family, work etc)

I would like to hear about peoples pass times.

I am thinking of taking up a hobby - I feel I waste too much time on my computer / in front of the TV. If I were living at home in the country I would be gardening.

I'm half heartedly learning Italian.

-running. I think I'm going to join a Track Club and start running races on a more regular basis. I did a few in New Orleans and had a blast!

I read a lot of science and history and give lectures in the shower.
I play with my dog, target shoot and sample local pizza recipes.
I play Civ IV.

Chasing girls...

Besides the obvious (given that I am posting here), the only thing I have time for anymore is exercising, which is also a necessity in order to keep my body working as I grow older (I do not intend to end up in the kind of shape my father is when I am his age). In order to make it more interesting I've turned it into a bit of a hobby and now intend to get really damned strong, maybe I'll compete at a few powerlifting meets in a while.

The obvious
- Modding CivIII
- Trying to program my own game
- Playing computer games
- Reading

Not so obvious:
- Playing wargames, mostly Cry havoc series and ASL
- Role playing game : I wrote my own system (in French).
- Painting figurines

I play the guitar but haven't done so for ages.

I taught myself Z80 programming and am writing a Manic Miner remake with a spectrum emulator (not much progression recently since I got a graphics card and can play CivIV again). It's miles faster than Matthew Smith's original, and takes up less memory too so I can probably cram in 40-50 levels instead of 20. EDIT: He was 16 when he wrote Manic Miner and I have 15 years game programming experience, however ;) Plus developing on a PC with modern tools makes things a lot easier.
