HOF Questions and Answers Thread

That is the list I was referring to.
There is just the gauntlet type filter, and with the ones (filters) I mentioned, it would be even easier to get the info ;).

I was looking at the hall of fame games, and it lists the "current number one games" for each category (e.g. domination win, deity, large, epic) so what does it mean exactly by "number one" game?

Welcome to my world, HoF. :satan:

Under domination, the one who won domination for a set of settings the earliest is number one. Other victory types work same except score and time.

Good luck getting a slot in the table; this one presently is easy as Cabert won as a modern start game.

BTW, I see what you did there....

This was probably answered a bunch of times already, but I don't feel like sifting through 62 pages just to find a simple answer.

Actually I have two questions:

1. What is the difference between Space Race and Space Colony? In the actual game, the only victory condition for this is Space Race, but does Space Colony mean that you were successful after waiting 10-12 turns for your spaceship to land?

2. Score is fairly obvious, and Time should be obvious as well. But I'm seeing scores well above 10,000, and by the time you win the game that late, your normalized score is pretty much kaput.

The best I ever gotten as my initial score (without the normalized factor) was over 8000. Do Time victories affect this a bit? Sorry, it's been so long since I've made a Time victory.

Space Race is the version of Space victory achieved in Vanilla and Warlords (ie you win when you launch), Space Colony is the one achieved in Beyond The Sword (ie you win when you arrive at Alpha Centauri).

Time is just your winning score after you win by Time. There are some very large scores out there for Time victories, maximising the score is part of the challenge with Time games.

HoF IV update? :(

I cooked very peaceful map with good, not really HoF, but very good start and overpowered non-Incan civilization (:egypt:). And this is my first submission and I am very excited. So excited I am not learning for my exam tommorow. And update is unusually late. Why are you doing this to me?!

Sorry, public holiday in Australia and I wasn't terribly motivated, updating now.

Unacceptable :whipped:

Sorry for being stupid, but I have another question:
For games with a few opponents, the Exotic advisor is just great, but when I try a more crowded map, I find it more & more difficult to see the first row in Glance:

In this picture you can see the first row is reduced to a very small line. It's even worse when I try a 18 civs game, where that row is nowhere to be found:

Since the first row is important in arranging leaders attitude-wise, the Glance is almost out of service without it. And I can't find the relevant HOF exotic option to fix it - have tested some values, but nothing changes. Could you pls give me a clue?

More of a technical question about the mod, maybe asking in the BUFFY thread might get an answer...

Hello folks!

Didn´t want to bring this up again specially with so many posts about it but I get the HOF issue on Windows 7. I´ve followed all the instructions on HOF install guide for Windows 7. I have executed and tagged the .exe as administrator in accordance to the many posts on the subject but it won´t work.

I got to the point that I start the game, select to load Buffy 3.19.003 and, instead of showing the error msg saying game wont be valid for HOF, the game just won´t load again. The small circle by the cursor spins for a couple of seconds and then stops without loading the game. Leaves me hanging on the desktop.

I do not use Steam.

Are there any solutions for this please?

Thank you.

Only games created when using the BUFFY 3.19.003 mod can be loaded with the BUFFY 3.19.003 mod. If you started a game without the BUFFY mod or an earlier version of BUFFY, it can not be used for HOF submission. You must start a new game with the current version of BUFFY.

I recommend that the CivilizationIV.ini be changed to auto load BUFFY. There should be a line in it starting with "mod ="; Add the full path to the BUFFY mod after the "=".

I hope the above helps resolve your issue.

Thank you Sun Tzu Wu.

I can load the Buffy alright. It´s just that, when I start it, it prompts me with a msg saying it wont be valid for HOF.

I changed the .ini file and the result is the same. Before changing it, I would start BtS and load a mod, be directed to the desktop, circle by the cursor spins for some seconds and stops and the game will not load again.

After changing .ini, it wont even load the game. Same thing, except it jumps to the part that mod was requested to be loaded, since .ini was modified to do so.

Have you checked Locked Modified Assets?
