Specifically, I have seen two variants:

Artist - Song

or

Song - Artist

For example, if I used "Feel the Pain" by Dinosaur Jr., I could write:

Dinosaur Jr. - Feel the Pain

or

Feel the Pain - Dinosaur Jr.

So, which method do you guys use?

Toll is also incoming.

Poll is here. Personally, I do Artist - Title because then I can organize music by artists more quickly. :D

Also, please state where you're from, I think there may be a correlation between how you write it and where you're from. I'm West Coast, USA.

Artist - Title

or, with more detail

Artist - Album - ## - Title

Northeast US - New England - Providence

General Category, Specific

Surname, Given Name

Artist, Track

Seems logical enough to me.

Artist - Track, always.

Song title - Artist

I'm in the Netherlands, that's in Europe. We also do Day - Month - Year

Song title - Artist

Plenty a Yooropeans voted t'other way. :p

Australian's are the only civilized group in this debate.

Artist - Title

...although here I've tended to put the artist in bold lately.

Artist - Album - ## - Title

This works in some cases... but then I always wonder if the album should be underlined, since I like italicizing the title.

Bad Company - Bad Company - Bad Company

for example?

***

United States - New England

LF, you shoulda used more recognizable names for your poll. I can't tell which is which without the labels.

I second that; something like

Beethoven - Ninth Symphony would be more recognizable.

I've always done Artist - Track

It makes it easier to find in my music library.
