Played another 80 years of my Brandenburg game at work
A lot has changed. I beat the crap out of Poland and the Order 2 or 3 times, taking a few cored territories from the former and annexing the latter. Then I fought a war with Denmark and took some of her territories on the continent. Then following a mission, I declared war on Würzburg to get Dresden, and it turned into a major cluster...you know. I think at one point I was at war with a good 19 countries, most of them 1PM, but a few problems, namely Bohemia, Hungary, Austria, Ukraine, and Lithuania. After a good 4 or 5 years, a lot of lost provinces, and massive war exhaustion, I did manage to drain the manpower of my enemies, force/buy out most of the OPMs, and take the land I was after, plus a little more. Unfortunately now my infamy is rather high and my legitimacy is in the crapper (but on its way up, thankfully). Now my plan is to sit pretty, work the infamy off, wait for a king good enough to allow me to form Prussia, and plan my next move in forming Germany.
Some commentary on the rest of the world:
Scotland managed to take the whole of the British Isles but it collapsed a mere 10 years after the 1460 picture as its entire kingdom got captured by rebels and was divided up between Wales, Northumberland, York, and England, plus it got beat down by Sweden and Norway a couple times. Eventually England, which at one point was reduced to one measly province in Ile-de-France managed to regain control of England proper, vassalize, and later annex the whole of the British Isles within a period of 20 years or so. Scotland was the first country to go Protestant (with me following 5 years later or so), but all of its provinces have been returned to the fold under the watchful eye of England.
Scandinavia's been rather weird as it has gone through being owned completely first by Sweden, then by Norway, and now it's been split up between Denmark and Finland. Denmark, which at one point owned more land in Germany than it did in Scandinavia, has now lost almost all the land it took before.
Poland, which was once one of the big men on campus was left a shell of its former self after I beat the stuffing out of it in the two wars to annex the Order (a vassal of Poland). Since then it's been divided up between Lithuania and Bohemia.
The Ottomans at one point owned all of the Balkans, Anatolia, and the Black Sea, but has since collapsed in the wake of several disastrous wars with Hungary and the creation of Bulgaria. Their still pretty damn strong, but their on their way out now.
Aragon, once a major player and one of the countries directly responsible for the destruction of France has since collapsed after a couple bad wars with Portugal and a stint of excommunication. They at one point owned half of Iberia, but now they've been reduced to 2 measly provinces.
Burgundy has benefited grossly from a lucrative alliance with Austria, and has managed to make the best of the power vacuum left by the destruction of France, gobbling up wide swathes of land in the Low Countries and France. It's also used its status as Defender of the Faith to go romping about for a stint in Finland and the Baltic Coast.
The most interesting story of this game for me is Provence, who also managed to benefit largely from the destruction of France. Since then it has claimed the title of Holy Roman Emperor 3 or 4 times in a row now and doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.
Don't ask how the Papal States got a hold of Iceland because I honestly have no idea.
Right now the big men on campus in Europe are me, Austria, Bavaria, Burgundy, Hungary, and Portugal, although I'm interested in seeing what happens in the next few decades as Bavaria and Hungary just got the crap beat out of them by me and are probably a little low on manpower now.
Hopefully I'll live to see it if my infamy problem doesn't get too out of hand ^_^
