How is your EU3 Game going?

In a game of D&T I seem to have come across an odd OPM in Finland - The Papal States, which are apparently Orthodox?

Spoiler :

You mean you haven't heard of the Orthodox True Papist Society of Laplanders ?

In my game, I had a zombie general for a little while. He died, but he continued to command the army that I had him leading, and he actually fought a couple of battles before I decided that it was cheating and removed him from command, after which he disappeared.

Rulers are most common in doing that. At least in my experience. One you change general they are gone forever tho.

My current (and first serious DW game) as the Mamlucks. I don't really have a strategy, so its one of those go with the flow type of games.

I don't like the look of that GH. It's 1412 and they already have half of Bosnia.

Not the northern half, either.

Small update: GOD DAMN PRETENDER REBELS! Its around 1422 now, and I'm in my SECOND wave of rebels. Man, I can't wait to westernize.....

Ugh, I sympathise with you. When I played Mamluks, crushing TSC's made up at least half of what I did.

Seriously? Castile beaten by Algeria?

It's time to celebrate!

Weird moment in my current Spain game that this reminds me of. At some point Scotland, and pretty much everyone else, dogpiled on England, and kept her provinces occupied for what seemed like a hundred years. After many years of reconquering Wales, Cornwall, Scotland, etc, England is finally whole, EXCEPT for an Algerian Aberdeen, and since I'm currently guarranteeing Algeria, it looks like there won't be any GB forming in this game. :)

And Burgundy got taken apart as well - not completely by France either.

I love it when Muslim countries capture random European provinces. I've seen Syria capture Pisa before, and they held onto it for a good 100 years. I think the French eventually kicked them out, but nonetheless!

I currently have a very nice game as Dali in MEIOU 5.2.2 (yes, I'm playing an unreleased version, no, I'm not Gigau, why?) Shan, Sukothai and Daxia are my vassals, I'm not planning to expand further as China goes since they are heretics. I'd rather conquer like-minded people i.e. everyone in indochina. Another goal is to get Dali into Dehli :p

From my just finalized Spain game, which is the first game of EU III I've played through to completion. I think I did pretty well. I wanted to play with the colonization stuff, so that worked out.

The goals were to unite Iberia, form Spain, and then turn my back on Europe while building a colonial empire in America. I ate Grenada, then formed an alliance with France which covered my back in Europe, and secured the northern border. Ate Portugal, and Aragon. Expanded into Morrocco for the Barbary Pirates Defeated modifier, and to give me something to do while waiting for Azores/Canaries/etc to core. Enacted the settlement policy in North Africa to seed Castillian culture in one province, and by game's end I had pretty much assimilated all of my african provinces.

I then colonized like crazy, and let Europe do its own thing. By the time I popped up back in Europe, France had been overrun by Burgundy, which was in turn overrun by Austria, and then France was balkanized into a bunch of warring kingdoms that took turns becoming variously ascendent, and then stomped by Austria. That's when I started nibbling. A Guyenne here, a little Dauphin there, some Brittany for dessert; it all worked out pretty well. :) Did Fabricate Claims on Naples/Ferrara/Sicily, and inherited them all in one shot, so I then worked on acquiring more Italy, and linking it up to France. Did some minor expansion in Asia (Ceylon) just to get the Indian trade modifier.

Went full Narrowmind/Mercantile/Aristocracy/Free Subjects/Naval/Defensive, and stayed Catholic. Took CAD as first idea for Gilded Iconography, and kept it all game. Never realized what a good NI that was. Early cultural tradition for top advisors, and ridiculously low stabilization costs. With an empire that big, I was recovering a point every two months; bring the comets on!

What do you all think about this one? Next game I'm going to try Oman I think; I want to try different mechanics like trading, and westernization. Any tips, or good AARs anyone can recc? Thanks in advance.
