The realm of Emperor Edward III Plantagenet after his unfortunate death in the field of battle.
Edward himself led his armies against France 2 times, the first charge won him his provinces in Southern France and the break up of France's numerous vassals and allies.
During this first encounter, Edward had his son, under the tutelage of the great General Charles Essex, fight Scotland who decided the time was right to pounce on England. They were defeated in several key engagements and routed from all of Scotland, allowing our army to split and besiege each individual fiefdom. Unfortunately for Edward and his court Scotland was too large to vassalize so Edward took provinces and warned Scotland that we would be back.
The 2nd French war was started by Edward the minute, nay, being the aggressive fellow he was, the second the truce expired he mobilized his armies and advanced with a strong pincer movement, 40,000 men attacked from the north via Calais through our earlier alliance with Burgundy and another 40k from the south. France was pinned and defeated in short order. Again the great General Charles Essex and his protege, Prince Edward (or the Black Prince as his troops have called him) commanded the northern army. This war ended with the De Valois family in disgrace and France in a Personal Union with Edward and his family. France was now an inferior partner in a greater power.
During this war England was assailed by powerful and weak countries alike. Our ally Portugal was attacked by Castille and we answered the call, bringing France in on our side when the French war ended. Our large 80,000 troop army now combined descended on Aragon, who paled at the sight of our army and promptly accepted White Peace and granted Military Access. Castille was not so easy, they fought hard and long.
During this brutal and bloody war we were attacked by the Irish fiefdoms, first Tyrone declared, followed by 2 other foolish Irishmen too drunk to realize the errors of their ways. England rapidly mobilized a 5k army and sent them against Ireland, which was joined later by another newly formed 5k army. In short order every one of them were conquered and annexed, save for one, the only Irishman who was not drunk and therefore did not declare war.
Once again England's full might was focused against Castille and the Kingdom of Sicily, whom I ignored. But once again Castille was spared, as Flanders declared war on me bringing in Norway and Poland. I laughed at Poland's attempts to get an army to attack me, but I quickly moved my navy to enforce blockades along the Norwegian coast and prevent them from launching raiding parties of annoying 1k landing parties. Flanders sent a strong force to attack Calais and for a long period I had no forces capable of lifting the siege and feared that for the first time in this game I would lose a town to the enemy. But for some reason Flanders packed up and left, when Calais was just about to surrender. Perhaps it was the eventual arrival (6 months later) of the French and Montfortian armies who promptly lay siege to Flanders border towns and quickly ended that war.
Once again I focus on Castille, praying that I get no more distractions. Fortunately I got no more, but I learned Portugal ceded a province and got out of the war and ended our alliance. No doubt Castille's doing. I therefore demanded that Castille hand over all the ducats they had before I left their territories. Castille obliged. And for the first time in nearly 50 years (pretty much the entire game up to this point) England was at peace and Edward died eliminating the last Rebel stronghold in Scotland and disbanding roughly 40k of his veterans to relieve our economy and help our manpower grow.
England's alliances and Vassals:
France; Personal Union and Ally.
Montfort; Vassal and Ally.
Guyanne; Vassal and Ally.
Albrecht; Vassal and Ally.
Navarra; Vassal.
Former allies: (which have been broken off for one reason or another. Some obvious, some not.)
Portugal
Sweden
Flanders
Holland
Anjou (Allied then Personal Union, then claimed when Edward IV took the throne recently)
Edward the 3rd has been a busy man and a fearsome warrior greatly respected by Europe and revered by his people. Edward IV, his son, threw a huge celebration in his honor, knowing his people would accept nothing less for a Hero King.
Also could anyone explain to me why my title is Emperor and not King? Just wondered since I still have Feudal Kingdom as my government. Thanks.
