I always love seeing successful Ottomans.
Fortunately they continue to be successful. Long jump this time, though, to 1564, as the mid-1500s focused on keeping inflation limited, building up infrastructure, and converting the infidel to reduce revolt risk, as well as lowering badboy in hopes of avoiding more wars with France.
We did fight a war in the 1540s, though, as our ally Fez DOW'ed Morocco and asked for help. This led to the establishment of Ottoman West Africa:
Kind of worthless territory, to be honest. Having an Atlantic port might be useful in the future, but there is zero manpower from these lands, and except for Anti-Atlas, the populations are low and the growth is negative. Thus if anyone decides to invade, we'll have to ship troops from the mainland to defend it (there are a few there now, but not enough to fend off determined invaders), and it might not be worth it. On the other hand, it's quite possible that no one will consider these territories worth taking. At least they are Sunni and easy to control.
In the late 1550s, we embarked on another war, against Oman and Persia.
Pretty modest gains,
in territory. What isn't visible here is that both Oman and Persia are now Ottoman vassals. The Hedjaz, controlling Mecca and Medina, are vassals as well (and have been since 1518), giving me all of Arabia as vassals except one city owned by Aden, and what little belongs to The Kaliphate (orange). I plucked most of Oman's trading posts in the war with them, along with Masirah, which I took for its port. My involvement in the war also spared Nogai, the Khazak Horde, and Transoxania another defeat at the hands of Persia.
My economy has developed noticeably. My production %, in particular, has greatly increased, going from 32% to about 57%, and taking me from 8% below the leader to more than 10% above second place. I've also built a Fine Arts Center in Istanbul. I now have the technology for governors, who fight inflation, so I'm hoping I'm at or very near peak inflation. My military tech still is mediocre at best, albeit good enough to fight non-Europeans, but the infrastructure investments were expensive, and hopefully will be worth it. Other countries are starting to like me now that my badboy is lower, too. Which is kind of nice. The Europeans still don't like me (although Denmark has mellowed out a bit), but most other countries are starting to think I'm not half bad.
In Europe, Scotland has had a bit of a revival, taking most of both Scotland and Ireland, and France has expanded moderately, claiming Venice. Presumably colonization overseas is underway as well.
